Canadiens call up Sergei Kostitsyn

For those of you ready to burst with frustration and demand a move of some sort, you got your wish. Carbonneau and Gainey have decided to call up Sergei Kostitsyn from the minors- not to be mistaken with his brother, Andrei.Hello to all!

Yes the Montreal Canadiens will have a brother duo for the first time in quite some time. Hopefully, this will bring about some offense to a lacking hockey club. At six feet and about 192 pounds, this speedy forward is an exciting player, bringing people to the edge their seats. Sergei can only speak a couple of words in English but will get some help from his fellow Russian-speaking team mates.

Here is an exert from canadiens.com (official site of the Montreal Canadiens):

“The Canadiens announced Wednesday that forward Sergei Kostitsyn has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Third-leading scorer among AHL rookies, Kostitsyn leads the Bulldogs with 22 points (6 goals, 16 assists) in as many games (22), with a plus-2 rating, 18 penalty minutes and a .180 shooting percentage.

A seventh round pick by the Canadiens in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kostitsyn tallied 131 points (40 goals, 91 assist) in 59 games with the OHL London Knights in 2006-07.

Kostitsyn will join the Canadiens in Philadelphia for Thursday’s game against the Flyers.”

Habs fans, come up with some line ideas for Thursday’s game. Please take into consideration the injuries of Patrice Brisebois, Bryan Smolinski and Steve Begin.

“A true Habs fan never, ever surrenders his loyalty to his team.”
