The Montreal Canadiens are in their 100th year of existence this year and enter the season once again with high expectations. Players such as Saku Koivu, Alexei Kovalev, Alex Tanguay, Robert Lang, Mathieu Schneider and others are set to become unrestricted free agents at the end of this year and there is a real possibility that Koivu with leave the team to play elsewhere. Other players such as Halak and Price have the potential to be top goalies however they must both take the step to the next level and step up their play.

Dominic Moore seems like an unlikely candidate to serve as the missing piece to the puzzle as the Canadiens battle to earn a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
10/02/10 at 15:45 - According to Patrick Fund of Canoe.ca, an offer would be on the table and was accepted by the Kings and Canadiens, but that Los Angeles would like to acquire another player before entering exchange. Ray Whitney and Slava Kozlov are the players focused.

Pierre Gauthier operated as Bob Gainey's right-hand man for more than six years but that does not mean the Montreal Canadiens will simply continue down the same track now that Gainey has handed the general manager's job to Gauthier.
Gainey and Gauthier said they have been talking to other teams about possible trades, but it appears the Canadiens are intent on keeping goalies Carey Price and Jaroslav
Carey Price isn't losing sleep over the words he had nearly two weeks ago with defenceman Andrei Markov. The argument Markov sort of suggested didn't happen. The one forward Brian Gionta flatly said didn't take place.
What the Habs goalie does have a problem with, however, is that someone, presumably a teammate, "snitched," taking the discussion beyond the dressing room.
Major Announcement in Montreal this afternoon? The Montreal Canadiens have called a news conference for 4pm et/1pm pt where president Pierre Boivin will make 'an important announcement regarding the club's hockey management.'
The latest news is that Gainey has not been fired but will instead be stepping down
It's official... Cammalleri will miss a minimum of 6 weeks According to rds.ca, Mike Cammalleri will be out of competition for at least the next 6 weeks due to a knee injury. While some say it's a good news that he won't require surgery, I can't think of anything positive about this situation. By the time Cammalleri is ready to come back to competition, the Habs will most likely be out of the playoff race.
