This team really confuses me, on paper they have probably one of the best forward groups in the league. Almost all of their forwards can score, hit, and can move. Their D have always been effective mabee not scoring as much as they should, and they have one of the top ten goalies in the NHL.

The Canes never seem to get blown out of any games, but often come up short on low scoring ones, Like I said they confuse me as to why they are not a top 5 team in the East. In my opinion, the only thing the Canes need is a new coach, and I dont mean Laviolette. I think a guy like Ted Nolan would definately turn this team around. I compare the Canes to the Caps, look what a coach did for them in a similar situation.

I agree I think they will make a strong push for the playoffs if they start off decently. It all depends on how consistent Ward feels like being and how well Pitkanen handles being the #1 defenceman. The offence will be solid. Could be looking at a run-and-gun hockey team.
