Canucks Claim Weaver

The Vancouver Canucks Claimed Mike Weaver off waivers from the L.A. Kings. Weaver was good for 9 points last season in 38 games with the kings. It is likely this move was made due to the canucks injured players on the backend Edler and Salo

They made the move, because they don't want to carry a prospect around as 7th defender, and he was one of very few solid 7th defender's defender's available.

Where did you get the info that he was with Los Angeles? Weaver was not a King. He was signed by Pittsburgh during free agency. He was just sent down to WBS and had to clear waivers, which obviously he did not. He’s smallish, and that is giving him the benefit of the doubt, but he got a lot of good reviews from the press around Pittsburgh all throughout camp and during pre-season games.

I think this puts the ball on Shero’s court with the terrible showing of Sydor to going out and signing/trading/picking a defenseman in a short while, because Weaver was basically his backup plan and that just got nixed. If only someone took on Sydor…

Join this 14 team hockey pool, pick and nhl team and there is your roster, no annoying drafts that take hours and hours. after everyone has a team we then can sign free agents from the remaining 16 teams.

He was a king last year. Yes, the  penguins signed him during free agency but put him on waivers and then the nux picked him up.

get your facts straight before posting.

NO YOU'RE WRONG!  The original post was that Weaver was picked up on waivers from the Kings.  He was picked up from the PENS.  Look before you jump.

  6. keyzero says:

AHLoldie, Sorry maybe my wording was unclear. Let me explain.

i've said, " Yes, the penguins signed him during free agency but put him on waivers and then the nux picked him up"
which means i fully realise that the original post is wrong.
I didn't deny the fact that he got picked up from the penguins, infact I agreed.

    however,
Kamullia said, "Where did you get the info that he was with Los Angeles? Weaver was not a King."

from his comment, it seemed like he never knew that Weaver was in L.A. last season. If he did have the information, he wouldn't of said, "Where did you get the info that he was with Los Angeles?" because that's a really easy source to find. Clearly, frezz knew that Weaver was with the kings last year and didn't know that penguins signed him so i was pointing that out.

Both kamullia and Frezz lacked in information, therefore I said, "get your facts straight before posting."

I got my facts perfectly fine, because of the syntaxis and context related to timing of the sentence, since I am talking in the present. You are misunderstanding the context because you are not taking into account that mine is a response to Frez’ article. I could have been more specific, but I was certainly referring ot the present and this season/transactions.

In essence it comes down to these sentences: In the article Frez’ relays, “The Vancouver Canucks Claimed Mike Weaver off waivers from the L.A. Kings.” To which I replied: “Where did you get the info that he was with Los Angeles? Weaver was not a King. He was signed by Pittsburgh during free agency.” All of those sentences are referenced to the time frame of this season. I will grant you that I could have been more clear by expanding on the subject, but my facts are indeed straight. Weaver was never a King during this season, and bottom line he certainly was not picked up by the Canucks via waivers from Los Angeles.

And while on the subject, in the future, keyzero, you should expand further upon your comments because it certainly comes through as a challenge and insulting when you say “get your facts straight before posting”. Neither Frez nor I were using any tone that was insulting or out of line, unlike you did, so please stick to your semantics before you start looking into others, especially when those are less trivial.

By the way, the whole mix-up was traced and was the blame of the Canucks organization. They in fact posted and released that Weaver had been picked up off L.A., and not the Penguins, and some media outlets just passed it on without seeing the error, hence it was not really Frez’ fault. His source got it wrong.

  8. kamullia says:

Yes, he does not realize the context of my post, as you did. I do not mind the mix up, but his tone is unnecessary. He needs to work on his own syntaxis and choice of words, before worrying about others.

after re-readingthe whole post, i realised that i was wrong.
you're right, please accept my apology.
