Canucks interested in Forsberg

Vancouver GM Gillis says team is interested in signing former NHL MVP if he’s fully fitLast year it was Mats Sundin. Now it’s Peter Forsberg. The Vancouver Canucks are interested in signing the former winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy if he’s up to NHL snuff, general manager Mike Gillis confirmed yesterday. Vancouver has six people watching Forsberg at the Karjala Cup tournament in Finland, according to the Team 1040 AM.

Forsberg has joined the Swedish national team for the first time since the gold-medal game at the 2006 Turin Olympics, but has played just nine NHL games over the last three seasons, and none since 2007-08

And they are going to get the cap space for this where exactly?

A retired over the hill Swede that isn't certain if he wants to make a come back? Yeah, this sounds like a card Gills would play.

We are doing fine with out Foppa but seeing how often our players are getting hurt… why not pick him up. He's not going to play all the games and he will miss time cause he will get hurt. We'll just have a good stock of part-time injured players and then we will make it to the end of the year. If everyone ends up healthy then we're screwed (over stocked).

Demitra… and also depends on how much he wants to be paid???

NO VANCOUVER DON'T DO IT. 10 million last season for another over the hill swede.

  6. Rico71 says:

Sign him to a shift by shift basis contract?

He gets paid by the shift, not the season.

2 year 10 million per.  It will be refered to from here on out as the 'Gillis' special.
