I highly doubt sens will take Salo for Vermette, but if they do, life is good!

I'm still really high on Bieksa, and would prefer not to trade him.

One possibility is krajicek and a pick?

The Eklund superstar is saying IT's Vermette and a Dman to the Nucks for a Dman and a prospect.

Vermette and Meszaros for Bieksa and Schneider? could be good for both teams?

hahaha, I do agree about the salo thing but little else.
Vermette is a defensive specialist who has success in the shootout, has learned to play in the clutch, and has the potential to score 60-70 points a season.  He would be perfect in the Vigneault system.
Bieksa for Vermette would be just a little bit skewed to the sens, and you gotta remember the signing pressure that comes with an RFA.  Schubert is a really underrated d-man, who plays too much on the fourth line (he actually has a harder shot than Zdeno Chara).  I can see him and Vermette going one way, maybe a mid range pick for Bieksa and Schneider.  I still think the sens shouldnt waste too much money with long term contracts.  Next year's UFA has some promising players in the mix, like Ohlund.
I would be interested in seeing Cogliano, or O'sullivan in a sens uniform.  Even Jason Arnott in the place of Vermette.

The rumor for Vermette is Salo for Vermette????????
Ya i think Bryan Murray would be on drugs if he did that..
Edmonton has really pushed hard for him. And after the arbitration hearings i bet there could be a deal:
    to EDM:
    to OTT:
    2nd round pick

Kraichek and a pick is not good enough for Vermette but that Meszaros and Vermette for Schneider and Bieksa would be pretty even.. I hope it doesnt happen though Vancouver would have a nice looking team…
But who would you rather have?

  5. Mr_Canuck says:

IN all honesty, i'd rather have vermette and Mes cause i truly doubt sundin's gonna come, so we gotta move forward.

If we can land vermette and have room for something else.. we wouldn't have any explosive lines, but we'd have a better balance than last year where it was the sedin line scoring or nothing.

    you can't be serious.
    you are on drugs.

  7. oilcountry88 says:

Are you kidding me! do you think Bieksa for Vermette is better than Staios,Dubnyk, and a draft pick! your the one on drugs! Ottawa wants a gritty defenceman.. Staios is a gritty defenceman just underrated.. and after Ottawa lost Emery a great prospect goalie like Dubnyk would fit nicely in the future. Your just overrating Vermette!

  8. Rickler says:

If anything Vermette is under rated.
I think Ottawa can fetch a better deal than that if he does end up on the trade block. Staios is 34 although durable, his age is bound to catch up to him in the very near future. Dubnyk is a giant at 6'6" and may have a promising career ahead of him. But in all honestly I just  don't see this trade happening. Ottawa gets ripped unless they throw in a 1st rounder.
I think Ottawa is looking for a point producer from the blue line and some secondary scoring. Staios just doesn't provide that on a consistant basis. He's more of a grind it out shut down dman. Which Ottawa has in Volchenkov, Smith and Phillips.

  9. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

sorry, but all you guys in the west are giving vermette way to much credit. He's played his whole career with superb linemates, and had his best year in a contract years.

what happened to Eaves, smokes, bonk, pothier when they left ottawa??? the latter 3 are all playing with bigger contracts than they deserve.

  10. prospectiv says:

Salo has a no-trade clause so I don't think Vancouver would be able to trade him.  Bieska seems the one on the block.  But this guy had a miserable season last year while Vermette had a career year.  Schneider would actually make a perfect fit with the Sens.

    Bieska & Schneider

    Vermette, Auld & 1st rounder

  11. Mr_Canuck says:

We have no interest in Auld… backup goalies are worth nothing when your starter is LU !

switch auld and the pick for Mez and we got a deal
