Canucks make a deal?

A radio station in Phoenix (Xtra sports 910AM) is reporting that the Canucks have traded for Mike Ricci, Denis Gauthier and Sean O’Donnell in exchange for Ryan Kesler, the rights to Kiril Koltsov and a second round pick.

This hasn’t been reported on any of the big guys (TSN, Sportsnet, etc..) as of yet, so take it with a grain of salt.

Seems like Phoenix could get more for that group of players if you ask me……so I doubt this is true.

  2. Lint07 says:

    Gauthier belongs in Montreal.

I still believe the Habs will trade for him and Gainey will sign Jason Arnott this summer.

  3. Marcus33 says:

Wouldn’t the Canucks be over the cap with this deal, or because they have lost Cloutier and Jovo for so long do they have enough room to make a move like that??

  4. Colasurdo says:

My first post on this site. Taking the advantage to finally reply to a post I agree with.

Gauthier has Mtl written all over him and Gainey loves Arnott, I see him making that second line our best its been in a while..

  5. Realistic says:

Great trade for Van City if it’s true!

  6. Sheaamatic says:

Kessler is a future Draper – Canucks lose on this deal for sure

  7. Flyer_Dman says:

I really hope that this is true and that the prior rumor posted on this page isn’t concerning the Coyotes and the Flyers.

  8. gtweb says:

    This is a tough one…

I really like Kesler, even though his offensive numbers haven’t be too strong this year, he is an energetic young kid with a lot of potential. He kills penalties, is very responsible in his own zone and can even drop the gloves if needed.

I will be very sad to see him leave is this rumour pans out, but I like the idea of Ricci, Gauthier and O’Donnell

hey Linty, its nice to seee you in the trenches and participating in the posts on a site you work so hard on!

  10. robinson19 says:

I totally agree with Gauthier in montreal, they need a hitting D and that would make alot of sense. Arnott I’m not so sure about, would playing for his old coaching staff make that huge of a difference on a guy who never became what he was hyped as?

Dont’ get me wrong, I’d love to see old-school Arnott on the 2nd line in Mtl but we get a bit negative here these days.

  11. NinjasOnly says:

But the 11th is Mike Ricci Bobblehead day…

On Saturday, March 11, 2006, the first 10,000 fans to see the Coyotes take on the Anaheim Mighty Ducks will receive a FREE Mike Ricci bobblehead.” -Coyotes Website

Pretty damn funny if it is true though. Just giving away a bunch of merchandise in the same mannor they would be giving away those players.

  12. afanofthelakings says:

    Gauthier in MTL Yes

Arnott in MTL Why not today ?

The Habs could give Ribeiro and Zednik for Arnott

I’m sure Dallas isn’t telling NO on that …

    Ribeiro a younger center

and Zednik is now on the 3rd line (everyboby knows that he’ll need to be traded)

    Arnott : 2,92M$

    Ribeiro : 1,17M$

    Zednik : 1,82M$

This trade is crap I never seen anything about this crap trade and Iam the biggest Canuck fan here, but I do here that the Nucks are very interested in Souray from the Habs and I dont know who the Nucks would give up I just seen it on the Hockey Central panel last night on Sportsnet they said it can be a minor move or a blockbuster move that can send Bert to the Habs in exchange for Ryder,Souray,Komasarik, and Huet or Danis.I dont know how true it is but they said the Sedins and Carter are gonna take the 1st line over and the Canucks want to get some young talent back for Bert and they said the Nucks would prob have to throw in a couple 2nd round picks.I think it would be a great trade for both teams big Bert is my favorite player but I do think he just needs a change of scenery and Ryder and Komasarik would be pretty decent pick ups and then the Habs get there big strong forward what they so desperatly need cause there team is so damn small.

  14. 24_cups_and_counting says:

Bertuzzi for Ryder, Souray, Komisarek, and one of our goalies? Must be that BC Bud, because ur high on something if u think we’re giving up that much for Bertuzzi. Millbury isn’t GM of the Habs, Gainey is, and he isn’t that stupid.

  15. BigCanuck says:

Man I hope we could just get Souray and Ryder out of that trade. I have tried to support and cheer for Bert, but he has no drive, no heart, no smarts, (takes sooo many offensive penalties), and usually just looks lost like he is going for a Sunday drive. Plus, apparently he is not a team guy. I would love to see him go. I just hope Naslund doesn’t go in the tank losing his so called best buddy.

Getting one of those young goalies would be a bonus, but we would have to throw in more for sure.

  16. steviewonder says:

The Naslund thing is why Bertuzzi is in no danger of leaving.

  17. afanofthelakings says:

Maybe Vancouver wants Gauthier because he’ll be included later in a trade with Montreal …

that VAN/PHX trade and after :

Theodore and Zednik for Bertuzzi and Gauthier

  18. Scruffy05 says:

you honestly think ANYBODY will pick up Theodore? The Habs couldn’t give him away right now.

  19. afanofthelakings says:

Theodore had a VERY bad year, but is still a TOP15 goalie for the years to come, if Vancouver wants him, they should get him now, while his value so down… Because next year he’ll be back in form and have a +30 wins season
