Canucks still trying to trade Luongo

The Vancouver Canucks are still trying to trade goalie Roberto Luongo and seem confident they’ll be able to do so in and around the NHL Draft.

Several teams have expressed an interest in Luongo, but the veteran netminder has a say in where he gets dealt to.

It’s believed Luongo has expanded his list of teams he’d accept a trade to, but that has been unconfirmed. Both Luongo and his agent have not yet responded to requests for interviews.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are not longer in the Luongo mix, after acquiring young goalie Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

The Leafs almost acquired Luongo at the trade deadline in early-April, but the Canucks balked at the team’s last minute offer and declined to pull the trigger.

The Florida Panthers, New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers have all expressed an interest in Luongo, but the Islanders and Oilers were not on Luongo’s original list. It’s believed other teams have also recently inquired.
