By the line scores tonight I'd say they are both in over their heads. Ovie played 16 mins. or something? Carolina has problems beyond coaching so anything said there is moot. Hunter walked in and WHAT? …..carried on where Boudreau left off. I had the Caps pegged to go far last season. I look at the Blues lineup tonight and I'd take that over the Caps lineup anyday. It's a safe bet the Caps are a team in the market for a major player shake-up.

You mean "by" that? Well, I literally meant "what is the difference (between those two coaches when they took over for their respective teams)". Not sure how you missed that. What I was implying was that they both took over and had great starts to their tenures with their respective teams (well, former team in Bruce's case).

Not sure I can make that any more explicit.

yeah I agree with ya, if the cost for Getzlaf really is 2 top six and a prospect/pick, then I'd be willing to send any combination of top six forwards (with obvious exceptions to Kessel and Lupul) and any defensive prospect that wasn't on the NHL roster during the Anaheim game.

A player like Getzlaf just doesn't become available that often, you have to snap on those opportunities.

Completely forgot about him. I'm not as knowledgeable on most guys out west. He's a real solid player though. I think his younger bro will probably make the team next year.

Price and... yeah. That's it. We'll see about Bernier, but it's pretty slim pickings otherwise. When you compare it to other countries it looks pretty troubling for the future. But I guess if we can keep producing the best forwards and (by far) the best defensemen, we should cover up for that weakness. It seems so long ago that you could look at a list of the top 10 goalies in the world, and over half of them would be Canadian.

It would be great to have both, but I really doubt Canada put two underagers on the blueline, even if both should make it.

They can always try Ross in different situations in camp too. Often times players just find that chemistry right away. It'd be cool to see him and Spooner click.

Yeah I get that. Defense is going to be a hard choice this year. Things would be easier if Gudbranson stays in Florida. Then we can have both Yeah I figured that and had the same original thoughts but I remember he didn't have the most successful camp last year and I think it was because of that reason. He was playing the grinder role on a grinder line. I just think he might be best off with an offensive start (and that offensive star might be better off with him). No they aren't. Or maybe they haven't changed. Seriously, the last time we had a star that became a star in the NHL was Price. Who else? Not really anyone…? I almost think that Canada pumps out elite defenders and they sort of cover for the goalies, making them appear to be better than they are. Random thought.

It would be tougbh to replicate what they did last year (seriously, that was like one of the best/most clutch runs in sports history), but they do look better overall. I think we have guys that could contain them on the team, but you're right, the goaltending really could be the Achille's heel.

Haha I have the same issue – hence why I just used Nino Anyways, I'm still not giving Ross that much credit. I love the guy but I don't think he will ever be a top line stud. He plays well and leeches well off superstars. He's a Downie type I think, a 20 goal, 40 point guy that can destroy guys. Baerstchi is probably the best player in the WHL right now. So yeah not the same as Nino and Johansen but not that big a downstep. He's at least learning how to play with a different type player, as Baerstchi isn't the type of big bodied offensive start that Johansen and Nino were.
