Caps interested in Yashin?

According to many sources and the Washington Post, the Washington Capitals are interested in the services of Alexei Yashin, but only at a discount price.

They want to get him at around $2M per but Yashin’s agent has made it clear the bottom is $3M. If he can be convinced to take less money, the Caps think he will be re-ignited from his laziness alongside fellow russian superstar Alexander Ovechkin.

If they were to even settle at 2.5M, i think it would be a good signing

I would like to see Kozlov Yashin and Ovechkin on the same line.

I think this would be a win-win for the Caps and Yashin.  I live in the Washington area, even though I'm a Rangers fan, and bottom line, the Caps need a couple of name players to fill seats.  Yashin would be starting from scratch here, since he doesn't really have much of a reputation here, good or bad.

I think your top line would be Ovechkin-Yashin-Chris Clark.  I wouldn't put Viktor Kozlov on that line, because you need a guy like Clark to backcheck and do the dirty work for them, even though Ovechkin can do that with the best of them.  Kozlov would be best suited as a second line center, if Yashin were to sign with Washington.

The fans here need a reason to be excited again, even if Viktor Kozlov and Yashin are the only free agents signed here this summer.  And I'm sure it would make Ovechkin more comfortable having more of his countrymen on the roster.

If they get Yashin, that team has some pretty good offense.  Kozlov, Ovechkin, Yashin, Clark, and Semin.  Any combination of those guys and you got 2 really strong lines – 5 players, 4 Russians, meaning there should be some chemistry there.

Yes because people from the same country instantly have chemistry.

I think this would be a really good move. And it would probably make Ovechkin happy to have Yash and Victor Kozlov around. And its in Washington's best interest to keep Ovechkin happy.

    Clark – Yashin – Ovechkin
    Semin – ? – Kozlov

Hell they should go for Slava Kozlov or Nylander along with Yashin. Or if you can't get one of the first two guys I mentioned, go for Mike Comrie or something.
