BRIAN BURKE has said that he has the 3rd pick from philly in play and offered in another deal! i'm beginning to think that the player he's targeting is scott gomez! burke did say that the player makes over 6 million dollars+ a year…….so please burke do us a favor and give us the 3rd we`ll take it for gomez,and then we can add brad richards.

I am not sure if this is a good/bad return situation, just very unexpected. When trading a roster player with some term left who is a 2/3rd liner a first and third are solid value if you were planning on moving the player anyway. However, Burke said several times that he wouldn't move Versteeg just for the sake of moving him, so the First and Third seems underwhelming when many of us expected that Versteeg wouldn't be moved unless we got something very valuable back.

I think its a good trade for both teams. I laughed at all you leafs fans on here who were expecting sooo much more in return then what you got for Beauchemin…Burke will hopefully make a good draft choice, he clearly wants to get bigger as Versteeg didn't quite fit the bill….This deal clearly shows Burke made a mistake trading for Versteeg in the first…..Leafs fans should be happy Burke is admitting it by making this move

I would have liked Carcillo as well. I do like having basically two early 2nds. The 2nd round has a lot of good players coming from it in the past couple years. YEs its not a mid or high first but its not exactly a high pick friendly draft. The Leafs could easily get two assets they feel were higher round material.
