Chara or Redden?

I Wouldn’t want to be John Muckler this off season… The Ottawa GM has a tough decision to make : Sign either Zdeno Chara or Wade Redden? Or try for both and risk losing them both? Taking into consideration that Spezza will also need a new contract (and will most likely be getting a raise from his humbling 1.01 million dollar salary) Muckler may have to chose one of his two Star defenseman, in that case, which one?

Redden, pretty much a day one senator, is loyal to the team, the alternate captain for whenever Alfi goes down, and has evolved into one of the top d-men in the league. He anchors the 1rst powerplay unit and is an Olympian on a strong canadian defense. He, along with Alfie, is the heart and soul of this team.

Chara, rock solid d-man, uncomparable for his size and the way he uses it, one of the best, if not the best shutdown defenseman in the league. Now a annual Norris contender and All Star and Olympian in his own right. Probably more coveted the Redden on the open market.

So, if you HAVE to pick one, who would it be?
