Cole Could Have Been A Sen…

Erik Cole was a pen stroke away from being an Ottawa Senator in a proposed pre-lockout trade deal. The question now is should Ottawa take another stab at grabbing the high-scoring forward.

In September of 2004, then GM John Muckler had a last-minute change of heart on a trade deal which would have sent Martin Havlat to Carolina for Cole, writes the Ottawa Sun.

Currently the Sens are once again looking for another high scoring forward and Carolina covets a puck moving defenceman which Ottawa has in Joe Corvo. It’s unlikely the Hurricanes would do a one-for-one swap this time but reportedly Carolina does have interest in Corvo so the foundation of a deal may be set.
