Collection of Leaf Rumors

A Collection of Leaf rumors from various sources, including radio, print, and internet bloggers.
Vesa Toskala and Curtis Joseph are nowhere to be found in trade rumors. This is largely due to the excess of available goaltenders, and the poor play of both of these guys this season.

It is also looking more and more as though the Leafs will make no changes on their blue line. Burke has publicly stated its unlikely he will trade White or Kaberle. Kubina has publicly stated he will not waive his no trade clause, and no other Leaf defensemen have popped up in trade rumors. Its unlikely guys like Finger, Van Ryn, Frogren, and Stralman are traded.

Thus the main focus on the Leafs is on the forward group. So Lets begin:

The AM 640 reported on contract talks with Moore (http://leafsjournal.blogspot.com/2009/03/report-dominic-moore-to-re-sign.html ) stating that Moore is looking to sign for around 3 million dollars, but may settle for less. Burke has been quoted on the issue, ”We’ve had some discussions and it’s too early to say whether we will be able to reach some common ground,” Burke told AM 640. ”We’ll nail that down by tonight, so there’s plenty of time to move him if it looks like he’s not going to sign.”

Burke also reveiled a possible trade he is ‘chewing’ on: ‘We got a trade proposal yesterday (Sunday) that is intriguing. We’re actually chewing on it right now,” Burke stated. ”This one would involve three players and a draft pick…it would involve two guys off of our team,” Burke added. ”I think we’re going to reject it, but we’re chewing on it,”

Nik Antropov may very well be the only Leaf traded by wednesday. There are no reports of contract talks, and many trade rumors. The main team that comes up over and over again is columbus. However, Burke has stated that the minimum it will take to get Antropov is a 1st round pick, and Columbus has said it will NOT trade its 1st round pick. Thus this rumor is likely going nowhere.

Reports (such as Millbury on Hockey Night in Canada) claim Jamal Mayers is up for sale. Mayers is a decent role player, with another year on his contract.

The rumors of Poni, Stajan, Blake, and Grabovski have all but died down (with the exception of sun media: http://www.torontosun.com/sports/hockey/2009/03/02/8585481-sun.html )

Here are some names that have not touched the rumor mill at all:
Lee Stepniak
Brad May
Boyd Devereaux
Jeff Finger
