CONTEST #1
THE 2006-07 HTR HOCKEY POOL
Here’s how the pool works:
First, you have to download the official file to enter the pool.
The pool is pretty simple: You have 30 rounds, and you have to choose 1 player per round. At the end, you’ll have a total of 20 forwards, 7 defensemen, 2 goalies and 1 team.
And that’s it, when you’re done you send it all to me at:
- HTRPool@Yahoo.ca
The pool work as follow:
Players (forwards/defensemen)
Goal = 1pt
Assist = 1pt
Goalies
Win = 2pts
OTLoss = 1pt
Shutout = 2 pts (added to the win)
Teams
Win = 2 pts
OtLoss = 1pt
You will be able to trade 2 players before the AllStar break.
CONTEST #2
THE 2006-07 HTR STANDINGS PREDICTIONS CONTEST
Here’s the official file to enter the contest
All you have to do is predict both the Eastern and Western conference final standings for the 2006-07 season.
RULES
EACH CORRECT PREDICTION FOR PLAYOFFS TEAMS GIVES YOU 1 POINT (No matter the rank)
EACH CORRECT RANK (For any team) GIVES YOU 2 POINTS
IF 2 CONTESTANTS ARE TIED AT THE END OF THE SEASON, THE ONE WITH THE MORE PLAYOFFS TEAMS PREDICTED WILL WIN
Both contests are entirely FREE for every HTR members. And you have up until October 3 to send me your entry at HTRPool@Yahoo.ca
Thanks to the help of Trademan, the pool will be online again this year at www.OfficePools.com and will be updated daily for you to check it out. The Standings contest winners will be announced at the end of the year right here on HTR.
THE PRIZES
Like I said at the start, both contests are sponsored by VINTAGE VANTAGE and here are the prizes they are giving away for the winners:
First of all, EVERY HTR member participating in either contest automatically gets a 4$ rebate on their next purchase at www.VintageVantage.com. Once you enter, you’ll receive the details on how to claim your rebate.
Now for the Winners of each contest:

how do i download that file once i’m at megashare?
You wait 10seconds and then scroll down… there should be a ”DOWNLOAD NOW” button.

At player trade time, I assume you mean drop one player from a category and pick up a different player in the same category?
Is it just me or when I click on the download me now link it just does a never ending loop and doesnt download??

had no problem with downloading contest 2 but i am having problems downloading contest 1
Is contest 1 in an Excel format because I keep getting a file that open with Explorer.
I tried d/loading it myself and it works fine.

to answer your question, the file with all the entries for the Standings contest will be posted on HTR when the season starts.

Well I plan on releasing the official list of predictions for everyone to follow it, and since the standings will be constantly changing I guess I will update the scores some times during the season… no idea how many though.
i downloaded the Excel demo, from downloads.com…and it doesnt open in it .. it says unable to open..?
How do you want it sent? That same file with each box somehow filled in? Or send just a regular email with the list of players?

FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK, THX MAN..now, i dont get the boxes…how does the pool #1 work..?
i really dont seem to understand..how many players do you pick per round?
those using the excel veiwer like myself can’t modify the file, so we can’t fill in the boxes, would it be too much of a hassle for you to recieve a written list of the player we select?

Actually, it takes a LOOOONG time to separates entries from each other (those that are good, those that miss something in them, etc.) and then add them on the site.
Add to that the fact that I have a day job so I’ll try to give it a go on friday and enter every single entry on Officepools.
I’ll keep you guys posted anyway.
oh ok, thanks for the update. i understand your situation. its tough to run a hockey pool, especially start one with tons of different emails to manage and still maintain a job. im looking forward to the pool.
Just wondering if the HTR Pool has gotten off the ground yet, and what the login in for OfficePools is. Since I entered my pics long before the Oct. 3 deadline, and have yet to hear back, or see anything on the site here about it.
