If less then 1.3 mil it is a good signing. Otherwise could have taken a look at younger guys early and trade for a 3 to 3.5 mil guy at deadline for playoff run.

Cookie Monster was solid in the playoffs!

But i agree he can’t make more than 1.3. I know he wanted more than linden but we shall see

    I’m thinking he’ll get 3.5 over 3 years.

Cap wise Nonis still says we’ll be ok cause a lot of guys will have 2 way contracts and can play in the minors. We shall see

    Drop the puck

Mojo now reporting that deal is 3 years 4.6 million (or just over 1.5 mill a year).

Personally, I think this is way too much for Cooke. He is a good pest, but not worth Trevor Linden (he rules by the way!) money. Hopefully this is a sign and trade deal by the Canucks – maybe for brendan witt?

Its gonna be a sign and trade, trust me.

3 years at 4.6 is a little crazy – he better play his ass off this season!

and as far as i can tell there is almost no chance witt will be coming to vancouver – i heard he and linden don’t get along at all! and i personally think it’s unlikely the canucks will bother getting more depth at defense until they’v fully evaluated their current possibilities during the season – from what i read in the papers crawford seems to like what he sees so far…

1.5 is too much, and I believe puts the team right at or just over the cap. Have to believe there’s a trade in the works.

i was watchin The Score and it indecated that matt cooke and the canucks came to a deal thats 3years-4.75 million

he will be making 1.5mil a year

Fair enough – have heard Doig looks pretty good as a fifth – seventh defenceman.

I just don’t think he is worth this type of money and I really believe that Nonis should have waited him out and signed him for less than the Sedin twins – they have done way more and got less! I mean, even Anson Carter only got 1 million – sure we sign him up for three years but what if it doesn’t pan out? then we have a bum contract hanging around our necks.
