Which is why I doubt Iginla goes to Washington. Calgary wont even bother to ask Iginla to waive if the deal is 'close'. Washington will have to pay to get Iginla.

Calgary could very well end 30th in the conference. That being said if Calgary did flip Iggy to Washington for say Washington and Colorado 1st. How scary would it be if Calgary went at the draft....

I mean that is instant rebuild there imo. Now I feel Colorado will not finish near the bottom but that being said they could finish outside the playoffs. Making it much easier to try and move up with those two firsts from Washington and Colorado.

Interesting. There's a little risk with Semin because he's UFA at the end of the year, and Russian. Which will play a factor, but I like what you're saying.

If those 2 picks are the WSH 1st and the COL 1st then I'd say do it.

Worse case: Calgary can flip Semin for more prospects/picks.

Best case: Calgary re-signs Semin and comes out of this trade with 2 top 10 picks, a great young goalie, and another pick in the 20-30 range.

It is a great time to do it now with Kipper out for 6-8 weeks. Calgary can use some depth in goal that has NHL experience.

I think Iginla, due to age, is more of a short-term option.

Semin is more of a long-term ption for the Red Wings. I think they need that with their aging top-six.

I think it will be (because of UFA and he's slowing down) Semin, one first, and a prospect to the Flames.

Then the Flames could deal him to Detorit for 1st, maybe a Jiri Hudler, and a good prospect like Tatar.

A better draft pick pool that will be.

I love Dumba, it would be cool to have Reinhart and Murray is supposed to be an elite puck mover but do you really need to pick all three? Seems like a waste with three first round picks. I figure at least one would be an offensive guy like Galchenyuk or Forsberg.

Interesting stats, looking at the standings and the 'previous 10 games' records.

Every team currently in a playoff spot has played over .500 in the last 10 games except for Buffalo and Dallas. Every team out of a playoff spot has played .500 or under except for Winnipeg, Calgary, and everyone's favourite teams to shit on - Columbus and Long Island.

On the flip side, I guess if Detroit didn't have sufficient picks and prospects to land Iginla, but they have a few for Semin, then Washington added a few into the mix along with Semin, then it could make sense.

Still, a lot of ins and outs to make that happen.
