if we are out of it come trade deadline day i wouldn't mind seeing us trade kostitsyn i think for a 1st r.d pick,gill for a 2nd or 3rd and gorges for a pick or 2 ,possibly even cole he'd easily get us a 1st round pick with a another 1st r.d pick and a couple of more later round picks let trevor timmins do his work and add more young talent to our stable and we'll be fine we have some very nice pieces coming i.e. gallagher,bournival,bennet,beaulieu,tinordi and like you said with a top 5 pick this year which i think it will be that piece will be a very good player(hopefully) we finish in the bottom 5 and win the draft lottery and add yakupov or girgorenko to that stable of young guys we have we'll be fine it might be a few bad years but with timmins drafting for us the future will be very bright.

scotty bowman said in the montreal gazette that he would highly recommend pierre macguire as g.m. and when bowman says that you listen the guys word carries more weight than anybody in the league bowman is never wrong and he isn't about this either ,i'd like to see carbonneau get another chance as our coach too he was a very good coach that made us a fun team to watch ,we played a fun stlye under him and he led us to 1st in the conference with 104 points1

Seriously, you don't think the General Manager has the final say on whether a player is traded? Yeah, Selanne has a NTC, so he can refuse to be traded, but that does not go both ways, he can't force them to trade him.

Yes, rhetoric is rhetoric, but in the end management will decide what to do, and if the head manager explicitly says he won't be traded, then there is a pretty good chance he won't be.

I dunno, connections or not, I don't get the feeling that players or coaches (or even GMs, but they're usually less vocal) respect McGuire very much. Plus he's been out of the hockey business for a while. Not sure sitting between the boards and interrupting the other announcers really counts as experience towards a GM position.

Like I said, hire McGuire and Roy and watch the frenchise burn!

That is serious value going back, and its effect on the current roster is minimal. Even for the future, it isn't THAT bad.

So long as you see that as fair value, then you can see how this roster can quite easily survive a blockbuster trade.

unlikely is correct but murrays quote is pointless because hes not teemu selanne. If he told murray this then teemu can always change his mind at any time… most likely trade deadline if ducks are outta playoffs haha. also what are you supposed to say to this if youre murray "its unkown if teemu will retire as a duck or with another team" not sure how duck fans would react to that one haha

diaz,weber,and possibly ellar will go for sure i think it was a mistake to not resign wiz but also a mistake not resigning hamrlik!gauhtier has *****ed things up here really bad it'll take the new g.m. a year or 2 to clean it up! but i really hope they hire the right guy for the g.m. job! i hope it's jim nill (detroit) pierre macguire(n.b.c) julien brisebois(tampa bay) or some other top guys around the league! i know you think macguire isn't a good choice but he's the smartest analyst in the business and the most wwell connected and a very smart hockey man(he learned form the smartest hockey mind ever scottybowman) so i think macguire will be a very good g.m. jim nill has spent a number of years learning under ken holland who currently is the best g.m. in the league and julien brisebois is a very smart guy and is an expert capologist that is currently the lightning's assistant g.m. and learning from yzerman!

JUST TO NAME A FEW AND ALSO A LOTTERY PICK THIS YEAR I FULLY EXPECT US TO LAND A TOP 5 AND WITH TIMMINS DRAFT RECORD AND A LITTLE LUCK WE COULD WIN THE LOTTERY AND LAND YAKUPOV! your right gauthier is a moron and should've been fired along time ago their will be some capspace but not alot available but gill,kostitsyn,moen,gorges,gomez won't be back gomez will be sent to hamilton markov will likely retire or be bought out we have an young inexperienced d-core but they can and will improve i think their wll be some guys moved for picks to add to our talent base kostitsyn can land us at least a 2nd or 3rd possibly a 1st,gill can land us a pick or 2 y.weber will be traded for picks so there is some assests there! but yeah we are imploding for this season,and with a few smart signing or trades by the new g.m.whoever it is and with us continuing to develop our prospects and with price's assention to being one of the top golies in the league we'll be back sooner and faster than you think i say within 2 years we'll be back

Spezza is not Getzlaf or Staal but he is a number one center. He is a guy that can get 90 points a season and it was only a few years back that he nearly won the cup with Ottawa. He is also a PPG player in the playoffs so I would not suggest you cannot win with him because you can. They did lose 4-1 to Anaheim, but lets be real, that Anaheim team was on another level that year. They were built to win a championship.

Turris situation is different. He did not feel Phoenix was a great place for his development and he is kind of right. They are defensive oriented and have no real offensive players to speak of. Sometimes players need to do whats best for them, and I think this is no different. It's also to say he feels he is entitled because Kadri, time and time again, has stated his dissapointment in being sent to the AHL and felt like he was entitled to being with the Maple Leafs. It happens a lot for young players in sports.

Zibanejad looks good in his development thus far. When he was drafted, he was compared to Sundin. Anywhere near that, he will be great.

They are a number 1 center away from contending. But what will it cost? Schenn? Kadri? Draft picks? The price will be steep.

Sundin was different. He did have wingers earlier on. Mogilny, Roberts, etc. Also, the Leafs were very good back in the day when they were deep at C with Sundin, Niewendyk, etc. Later on, the salary cap killed the Leafs so they could not find capable wingers for him to play with.

Bozak, this year, is pretty much a 1B this year. a 1A is what this team needs. It will help this team on the offensive end and on the defensive end.

Karlsson is one dimensional, but he has moment where he looks good defensively. Pair him up with Cowen and that offsets their issues.
