Could the Kings move Brown + more

Paul Gaustad handled one question with care last week when he was asked by a Nashville television reporter if he planned to re-sign with Buffalo: “I’m not even thinking about that right now. This is my team now. I’m happy to be here.”

* The Kings fielded several offers for winger Dustin Brown before deciding to keep him for the stretch run. Brown, on pace for his fifth straight 20-goal season, likely will be traded before next season. He has a $3.175 million cap hit and two full seasons remaining on his deal.

* Backup goalie Michal Neuvirth, frustrated at times this year while sitting behind Tomas Vokoun, helped the Caps regain their footing with three straight victories. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” said Neuvirth, who had a 1.83 GAA and .939 save percentage during the three-game stretch leading into the weekend.
