A crazy week to start Free Agency

The first week of NHL free agency has lived up to all expectations. It has been crazy and has seen players like Patrick Marleau shift from the San Jose Sharks to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Another major transaction was that the Dallas Stars were able to sign Radulov away from the Montreal Canadiens and it is likely that he will play on the Stars top line.

Another of the big signings was that the New York Rangers were able to sign slick puck moving defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to a 4 year contact that will pay a little over 6 million dollars per year.

One of the transactions that I find to be interesting is that the Penguins were able to sign Justin Schultz to a new deal for five and a half million per year. It was not that long ago that the Edmonton Oilers gave up on Schultz. It sure goes to show that if you are able to end up in the right place at the right time …. Good things can happen.

Another player who has been cast off by two teams now, Nail Yakupov, has landed with the Avalanche after the St. Louis Blues decided to not bring him back. The firmer first overall pick of the Edmonton Oilers should have a great chance with the Avalanche to re-start his career.

Speaking of players who seem to have had their fair share of issues, there continues to be talk that the Buffalo Sabres may look to deal Evander Kane. His off ice problems have lead to trade speculation for several years now. It was highly speculated that the Canucks would have interest in his services, however, it now seems that teams who are in win now mode such as the Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks or San Jose Sharks may try to swing a deal for the sniper. Also, many people have argued about the The hottest WAGs of the NHL , We must not forget about these pretty ladies and what they have to go through each time their boyfriend/husband is traded.
