Curses in the NHL???

I’ve noticed a few things going on in the last few years. And since the Bambino curse (Go Yankees Go) is over with, I figured it would be best to talk about some new curses. The Beukeboom Curse

In 1998, the Los Angeles Kings were in a game against the New York Rangers, when Matt Johnson came from behind and punched Jeff Beukeboom in the back of the head, essentially ruining Beukeboom’s career. Ever since then the Kings have had horrible injury problems. Jason Allison, Adam Deadmarsh, even Martin Straka last year, just to name a few. And it’s all because of Matt Johnson’s hit on Beukeboom!

The Mahovlich Curse

Much similar to the Red Sox curse, the last time the Leafs won the Stanley cup was a long, long time ago and the next season Frank Mahovlich was dumped on Montreal (The Leafs equivilant to the Yankees) for next to nothing. Ever since then, the Maple Leafs have not won the Stanley cup.

The Barilko Curse

Bill Barilko was alive for every Maple Leafs Stanley Cup until 1951 when he scored the Leafs cup winning goal, and later that summer died in a plane crash. The Leafs didn’t win the cup again until 1962, when the body was found… Now except for one fluke against the Red Wings, every Leaf cup has been against the Montreal Canadiens, the team Barilko beat. Now being in the same division as the Habs, we’ll never get to play them in the finals again, which means no more stanley cup. Ok so this one sucks, it’s just a theory.

I guess it is just proof that we should watch who we piss off because the spirit world, yada yada yada.

Curses are only real if you believe in them and those Red Sox proved my theory by running around saying how they were to dumb to know they weren’t suposs to win. I laughed so hard when I saw those sox fans doing their “Were to Dumb ” display.

We used to think the Wings were cursed because we had not won a CUP since trading Terry Sawchuk during the off season after the 1955 CUP.

That Barilko story is interesting. However the Wings had Mahovlich and traded him so I don’t know about that one.

One goal Leafy. Yea OT in the 2002 Eastern Cnf finals was it game 7. Yes I was pulling for those leafs to beat the Hurricanes so we could have a Leafs vs Wings finals.

Do this before every post season game you watch from now on play Journey’s “Don’t stop Believin” I know it may not be of your generation but, you must start to BELIEVE it worked for us.

You said it but, I was thinking there may be the curse of the FLEET.

the curse of 12 year olds not knowing history

    the big M trade was:

Mahovlich Stemkowski Unger and rights to Carl Brewer to the Wings for Ullman Henderson Barrie and Smith to the Leafs

The Leafs were already mired in a huge slump before they traded those players. Ullman and Henderson both had great careers in Toronto.

The great thing is, after Game one of the finals, they went to hurricanes, and have been downgraded to tropical depressions ever since.

I based it on a Toronto Star report. It isn’t my fault. What I read was that he was dumped on the Habs for next to nothing. Get a life man.

What ever happend to those cheerleaders with those high cut tops, low cut bottoms and Richard Petty’s Hats? Best thing ever in canes history.

That series had the funniest scenario when Shanny was in the box. Some Canes fan was beating on the glass at Shanny and he gave her the sign language which implicated she should shave her arm pits.LMFAO
