This is purely a speculation article with regards to simply the Toronto Maple Leafs. Over the past several weeks the articles of trade rumors have been flowing around, and hovering over the Leafs. John Ferguson Jr. is not the best general manager in the sport and by no means do the hundreds of Leafs fans think that, but we do expect some intelligence from him. The countdown until trade deadline is fast approaching and will be here in less then a month, JFJ has to harsh out some sort of deal to improve the team if he wants the Leafs to make the playoffs and if he wants to secure his position in the organization.

There are a couple players that are on my wish list, that I would love to see sporting the blue and white. Here are a couple of my ideas for JFJ;

To Toronto: Ladislav Nagy ($3 million) and Fredrik Sjostrom ($750,000)

To Phoenix: Jeff O’Neill ($1.5 million), Matt Stajan ($1.75 million), Brendan Bell ($450,000) and a 3rd Round Pick

Why: The Leafs get that top line winger to play along side Mats Sundin and Sjostrom brings a scoring presence. He would fit in well with Ponikarovsky and Antropov. The Coyotes get a solid grinder/goal scored in O’Neil, Stajan and Bell are good young players to help build around.

Or,

To Toronto: Alyn McCauley ($2 million) and Lubomir Visnovsky ($1.9 million)

To Los Angeles: Pavel Kubina ($5 million), Erik Westrum ($450,000) and a 2nd Draft Pick

Why: The Leafs get a solid all around centre and is an old face. Visnovsky is a great offensive defenseman and would be deadly on the powerplay with either McCabe or Kaberle. The Kings get a solid offensive defenseman in Kubina, a cheaper forth-line center and a solid draft pick.

Or,

To Toronto: Richard Zednik ($1.976 million) and John Erskine ($575,000)

To Washington: Chad Kilger ($1.2 million) and Wade Belak ($675,000)

Why: Why not????
