yea drake was good in his day and i liked him in st. louis for a lil bit.  but hes gettin too old now anyway, i wont miss him too much, but maybe a little bit, cuz he was a hard worker and good leader.

  3. Rickler says:

Drake Draper Maltby – that would be a scary energy/shutdown line

  4. wingsfan13 says:

you suck holland.  too busy worry about that puss hasek and now you go and get a grinder when we need second line scorers.  good job.

  5. avsjoendryan says:

hmmm i dont think the wings need him

  6. I_hate_LA says:

This is a pretty good signing. Detroit needs more grit and that's what they just got. Dallas Drake has a crap load of experience as a veteran and will be a good leader for the winged wheel

  7. Jrugges says:

I'm gonna say this is a stupid signing… We've got plenty of players like Drake. Maltby/Drapper/Frazen/Cleary… Wheres are second line center, Or winger? I have faith in Holland but this guy is not who we needed.

  8. wingsfan13 says:

my thoughts exactly im lost here, he must be putting total faith in fillpula, hudler, and grigorenko

  9. wingsfan13 says:

    hudler-fillpula-samuelsson? grigorenko?

    Zetterberg – Datsyuk – Holmstrom

    Grigorenko – Hudler – Filppula

    Lidstrom – Rafalski
    Chelios – Kronwall
    Lilja – Lebda

X – Kopecky, Quincey, Meech, Howard

    Needs: 2nd line centre; top 9 winger, 4th line grinder/enforcer, #4-5 defender

He probably didn't like the price tag of a couple free agents. Maybe got out bid on a couple others and decided he'd go with Huddler and Fillipula, who have potential to be solid 2nd line players.

I like the look of the line up. Defense looks solid, hopefully goaltending will be too.

They won't be as good as last year but they'll compete and Kenny will add a player or two throughout the course of the season so don't be sad Wings fans!

If he starts recovering by december imagine a Peter Forsberg signing Chirstmas present for Red Wings fans. Small money, incentive laden contract and the wings soar to the top again. This is just one example of the type of brilliant move that usually seems to pay off for Holland. NOBODY WORRY ABOUT DETROIT.

You are outrageous. If you truly were a "wingsfan" you would know that Ken Holland is the best GM in the league and should be grateful he is the GM of your team. Every year he makes smart moves to improve the team. Hasek had his best season in years last season, you would have to be an idiot not to resign him to a relatively cheap contract. Also, one of the knocks the wings have always had was not being gritty enough. Every team we face is pretty much grittier than us, which is why bringing in Drake is a good move, because not only can he skate well and hit hard, he adds veteran leadership to the team, which you can never have too much have. Maybe you weren't watching the playoffs, but Valterri Filpulla will be our second line center between cleary and samuelsson. This is a very adequate line of scorers and now that Filpulla is stepping up, we will have enough scoring depth. And another point, Holland said he wasn't done dealing so dont criticize the him before you see the lineup on opening day.
