Devils’ Martin Brodeur pretty sure he’s not retiring, and seems to be warming up to moving on
Devils goalie Martin Brodeur really has enjoyed seeing a lot of game action and playing pretty well the last month during a late-season stretch in which his team is fighting for a playoff spot.
He never saw this opportunity coming… not after Cory Schneider played almost every game for two months … not after knowing for sure that being traded before the NHL’s March 5 deadline was a real possibility.
But now that Brodeur, the Devils’ starting goalie for Thursday night’s game against Phoenix, is playing semi-regularly again, the 41-year-old appears more certain than ever that he won’t retire when his contract runs out after the season.
And if Brodeur indeed does come back for the 2014-15 season, he seems to be warming to the idea of moving on to play for someone else for the first time in a great NHL career that is more than two decades old.
In a 13-minute one-on-one interview with NJ.com after Wednesday’s practice, Brodeur was asked straight up if he’s pretty sure he’ll play next season.
“I think so,” the goalie responded.
