Dominic Moore to be moved?

Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun is reporting that Dominic Moore’s play has improved so much this season that he may now be n the trade block.

It is noted that this play has really helped to rejuvenate Jason Blake this season and that his play has improved to the point this season where he may now be a desired commodity for other teams. The Leafs may look to move him due to the fact that he is set to become a UFA at the conclusion of this season.

That would be a picture of John Mitchell….

  2. greatlife15 says:

    Haha that's gold!

Back on-topic, what would Domi Moore yield realistically?

  3. dumbassdoorman says:

I think a mid round draft pick. First i would see if he is interested in resigning, if he is do that instead. Or if he is open to looking at resigning if traded….ala Tkachuk?

  4. lukeleim says:

I remember long ago I suggested they trade Pogge when his stock was high for he is the most overrated prospect (most overrated player is Jordan Staal) in the NHL. He is really proving me wrong…

  5. KingCanada says:

IF Dom Moore is on the block which I doubt, he would be worth more then people would actually expect!  Moore is on pace for a career high 55 points this season.  Lets have a quick history lesson here and compare past rentals in the 50-60 point range.

2003 Anaheim trades Vaclav Prospal to TB for a 2nd round pick
2008 TB trades Vaclav Prospal to Phily for Alex Picard and future cons.
2008 Washington trades Matt Pettinger mid season to Anaheim for 2nd round pick

Now Prospal once has scored 80 points but usually hovers around 50-60 and then Pettinger is a big body but scores less then Moore does.  Each trade you say a good OR a 2nd rounder and I believe that Dom Moore is worth at least that!

  6. HABSSTAR says:

Moore for Kovalev (E5)….. sorry, wrong site.

  7. mojo19 says:

Fergie kept the wrong guy. Tuuka posted a shutout a couple weeks ago for Boston….

  8. mojo19 says:

Prospal doesn't usually hover around 50-60. His stats are actually amazing if you look at the pattern. He has one great year, one good year, one great year, one good year, etc.

    2008 – 71 pts Great!
    2007 – 55 pts Good!
    2006 – 80 pts Great!
    2004 – 54 pts Good!
    2003 – 79 pts Great!
    2002 – 55 pts Good!

So he's due for around 55 pts this year which I think he's actually on pace for, but pick him up in fantasy next year he should jump back up to the 70-80 range.

  9. LEAFSLEAFSLEAFS1967 says:

Finally someone agrees with me that Staal is overrated! I remember people bashing me a few days ago for saying that he was overrated and telling me how he was once a 30 goal scorer and how he is an amazing player.

  10. leafy says:

If he agrees to a salary of around $2M, I'd rather keep him than get a 3rd or 4th round pick.

  11. leafy says:

The jury is still out on Pogge. Sure, he hasn't looked too good, but it's way too early to write him off.

Look at MA Fleury when he first broke in.  He didn't exactly look like Dominik Hasek.

And what about Carey Price?  Highly touted prospect, but not doing too good.

I don't know, maybe Pogge is another Eric Fichaud. But it's way too early to write him off in my view.

  12. leafy says:

Hey that's a good deal for the Habs, haha!

  14. leafy says:

Sorry, bad link. The same story appeared in the Star.  I don't know why I find this funny.

  15. HABSSTAR says:

Yup, even if Moore only turns out to be a one year wonder.

  16. GoLeafs13 says:

His stats aren't great. All that proves is that he is not a consistent player. Prospal isn't a great player but he also isn't a terrible player. He is just borderline average.

  17. Sharxfan20 says:

Dominic Moore has really become one of the Leaf's best this season. Now is the time to move him. We could get a solid 3rd rounder and a young player (at least) for him

To Colombus: Pavel Kubina, Dominic Moore, 4th in 2009
    To Toronto: 1st in 2009, 3rd in 2009, 5th in 2009

  18. Absolute says:

all i am praying for is that the leafs have at least 2 first round picks this season and at least a second as seeing how we do not have one at the moment. I think the leafs need to just rebuild and stock the draft picks, so hopefully burke does this and gets more picks any way he can

  19. habs79 says:

As bad as Columbus wants to make the playoffs, they would never make that trade. They won't move their 1st rounder (which is a slump away from being a lottery pick).

  20. mojo19 says:

All i know is that three years ago Leafs and Rangers fans were talking really highly of Pogge and Montoya. Now Montoya was dealt to Phoenix he doesn't look like much, and Pogge isn't lighting up the AHL and he looks like a joke in the NHL.

Pogge has a long way to go. But don't despair, most goalies don't make it until their late 20's. Pogge is still young be patient. Nik Backstrom for example is in his thirties and so is Tim Thomas and they're both superstars who didn't break into the league until recently. Goaltending is different, that's all.

  21. mojo19 says:

not a consistent player? Are you crazy? His stats are very consistant, alternating from 55 to 70 pts every year.

  22. mojo19 says:

Columbus is in the playoff picture right now. They will do something like this. Maybe not this, but Columbus will make some noise at the deadline as long as they stay competitive in the next two weeks. Mark my words.

  23. habs79 says:

I'm sure they will make noise, they want to make the playoffs. However they won't give up their 1st rounder for a "playoff rental" who desn't even bring any playoff experience, and an overpriced defenceman who still has another $5 million cap hit next year.

  24. LeafsNation91 says:

OMG. SICK. That would be so sick, but I always wanted to see bear fighting…PETA would hate me

  25. blaze says:

    Ryan Miller him.

  26. leafy says:

I was thinking of that famous Seinfeld episode with "Little Jerry".

  27. hockeyhead says:

    riveting news there.

i heard shean donovan might be waived too.

  28. mojo19 says:

I could definitely see them trading their first rounder for Kubina who brings cup experience as a #1 d-man

  29. mojo19 says:

Moore has 39 points so far this year. Donovan has 8 pts. How are these compairable players?

  30. KingCanada says:

Ya Ive definatly seen the pattern as well but I still think they have similar worth.  Prospal has the potential to be great but Moore is much more consistent so we shouldnt trade him unless the return is a 2nd IMO since I really like him on our team!

  31. KingCanada says:

MAN Ive seen these fights before when I went to visit family in the Philipines (they married in…im not asian btw) and they were CRAZY!!

They strap a knife on their foot and tie a elastic band around their buthole so that they get really mad and they they just go at it until one or both are dead.  Pretty bloody man, Ill definatly never forget that!

  32. Sharxfan20 says:

It makes sense for both teams. they're both gettinh what they want. The Blue Jackets need an experienced D-man (even better with a stanley cup) plus Dominic Moore, who could be signed to a solid deal with Columbus. He'll probably be a number one center and play with Nash, unless the jackets make a move to get a solidified number on ecenter. As for the Leafs…..They're getting what they need so very badly…..draft picks.

  33. mojo19 says:

Moore is not consistant at all. At the age of 28, this year would be considered his breakout year. but I agree to hold onto him.
