wow, just wow...... thats what i would say if they traded the 1st overall like that

Edmonton needs a franchise player, a game changer, cause they sure arent signing on through free-agency. This is their chance to build through a player good enough to well, build around. Why ruin it?

They r better off drafting Taylor Hall, than taking the 3rd overall and any combo of any of the players u named there..... Nathan Horton and Stephen Weiss, r not at that level. Taylor Hall "might" be, but they arent and never will, while Taylor Hall "might". (pretty good chance)

I could see Tallon plucking Versteeg, Eager and Ladd from Chicago pretty easily. I think the real challenge for Tallon though, will be trying to land free agents. Does Tallon instantly give that franchise enough respectability to land a couple marquee guys over the next 2-3 seasons? I wouldn't mind seeing the Panthers on the comeback trail.

Chiarelli cleared some stuff up today. He said that he will not move the second pick and will be taking "one of those two forwards." However, he said one offer in particular really impressed him. Not sure who it was but I'm betting on Florida as you might have seen something with Horton and the third pick.

Also he said that they will only try to move up to first overall if he and management deem the gap between the two players to be large enough and at this moment he doesn't think it is and he doesn't expect that to change.

Another interesting thing he said was that if they make a trade with the Oilers they wouldn't pick first but rather just get their choice of player. Not sure how that would work but I guess it would allow Edmonton to still get the prestige that comes with the top pick.
