Ducks and Bruins to make a swap? is reporting a possible rumor that would see the Ducks and Bruins making a swap of highly paid veteran players.

According to the article it is speculated that the Ducks and Bruins would swap Schneider for Glen Murray. HTR believes that this would be a good move for both teams. The Bruins would be able to pick up another talented defenseman and the Ducks would be able to shed a bit more salary and replace some of the scoring that they lost when they placed Bertuzzi on waivers.

That would be stupid move by Anaheim, Murray is garbage and is paid almost as much as Schneider so they would save very little in Cap space while giving away a much better player. This is just Boston dreaming thats all.                                                                                                           "HTR believes that this would be a good move for both teams." Which one of you guys thinks this would be good for both teams?

Thats not an even trade at all? Shneider is a great defenceman with a great scoring ability and Murray is just a high cap to your team who can only get you 30 points a season. And are'nt the Ducks trying tio get a deal done with Perry… I thought that why Bertuzzi is on waivers?

Murray has never been the same after he was kidnapped by aliens.

As a Bruins fan I would love to see this happen.

As a human with an IQ higher than a carrot, I don't think it'll ever happen. Bruins will have to part ways with something else big to get Murray out of there. I remember the Bruins tried including Murray in the deal for Fernandez but the Wild wouldn't bite. It was the same trade without Murray that made the deal work out.

Everybody talking about how Burke would be of fool doing this, but I think Chiarelli would be not better. both teams don't have cap space to get a big salary, and if they plan to buy them out, well they'll just keep their own players.

Boston doesn't need Schneider. yes the Bruins need a top 4 d-man, but not at this price. Look for Marek Zidlicky from Nashville or Mike Van Ryan from Florida. they cost 3M$, which is more realistic, and still are able to log big minutes and play on the PP.

and it's public knowledge that the Bruins will buy out Murray. so if the Ducks want him so bad, why would they take him now for 4M$, when they can have him in 1 week for 1M$?

Good deal for both sides. Both contracts expire next summer. Murray makes around $4.1 million and Schneider makes around $5.5, so the ducks give up the better player but drop almost a mil and a half off their cap. And Schneider is kind of a spare part in Anaheim with all their d-men who log big minutes.

Schneider had 12 goals and 27 assists last year, and was +22 and played 22 minutes per game on avg. (I'm sure the avg. went down later in the year with Niedermyers return)

Murray (who everyone seems to hate on this site) had 17 goals and 13 assists last season in 63 games. Are the ducks losing this deal? Yes, but there's a salary cap and this isn't a bad deal for them overall. Besides Murray is a UFA next summer so his contract only hurts for 1 year, and I think he could step in and score 20+ goals for the Ducks so everyone lay off Glen Murray.

OMG seriously this site is retarded.. You have idiots write this garbage thats already written on another site.. Plus ontop of that they write the article wrong the article states it would only benifit boston not anaheim and there's no way that deal will happen ever.. plus they just gave up on bertuzzi wich actually produced points why would they get a player thats not even worth anything .. if boston wants to get rid of him he's surly not going to make the lineup of anaheim's team wich is a better team

This article is not a "rumor"

It's just yet another hare-brained idea made up by increasingly lazy writer KP Dupont.

The guy has been coasting for years.

how about schneider to the flyers.  dump rathje salary ( LTIR ) , trade knuble for schneider thus costing philly about 3 million for his services for the year. they are both in the final year of their contracts.  thoughts????

  10. PointMeAtTheSky says:

That trade would be a steal for Boston.

Schneider is worth more than Murray. Not only would Anaheim be getting ripped off, but this trade really doesn't help them. They shed only 1 million in cap space, lose a good top-4 defender and get an aging forward who has seemingly lost his scoring touch.

Obviously Chirarelli would want to do this, as this would mostly be a good deal for Boston. Getting rid of above mentioned aging forward who has seemingly lost his scoring touch and getting a solid veteran defenseman that can help boost their offense.

But if Burke has any sense at all, he wouldn't even be considering this.

  11. flyersfan10897 says:

Flyers can't afford him.  Knuble has a 2.8 million cap hit for one more year, Schneider has a 5.625 million cap hit.  Rathje does not count against the cap, so his 3.5 doesn't make a difference.  I'd love to have Schneider, but the Flyers would have to give up more.  You could throw Lasse Kukkonen in because Stevens for some reason doesn't like playing him (and the Flyers just got Eminger), but thats still a 2 million difference that the Flyers probably won't go for.

I think that's actually a pretty fair trade.  The ducks get a 30 goal scorer and a shot-blocking defenseman and get to save some money, and the Flyers get a good defenseman who would make their power play even better, but they might not want to take on more salary.  I guess it depends on resigning Randy Jones and who they are targeting on the free agent market.

    Vishnovsky traded to edmonton!!!!

  13. Tachmo says:

Like everyone said Anaheim would be stupid to make this deal. Murray is a 3rd line checker at best these days. Zero points in the Montreal playoff series proves this. Hell if I'm Boston I send Murray and a 2nd round draft pick to Anaheim for Schneider.
