Rumored 3 way trade.  Doubt there's any truth to it.

    Tor
    Ryan, 4th(Phi)
    Ana
    Simmonds, Kulemin, Lombardi, 1st(tor), 2nd(Phi)
    Phi
    Gunnarsson, Beauchemin

I would be shocked if the Ducks moved Ryan but if they did it would take a lot probably a deal similar to the Kessel trade. This is assuming they want to reduce salary, as rumored. There will be a ton of offers if the rumor is true and if Calgary got in a bidding war they wouldn't have the assets but something like:

    Cal: Ryan
Ana: 1st (2012), Nemizs, Horak, Stempniak

Saves 2.4 million gives them a possible high 1st rounder two Nhlers (one 20 and the other 28) and a solid power forward prospect with no long term salary commitments.

  3. albertateams says:

Doubt it. Sounds like the Ducks are cash strapped so I don't see them wanting to take that much salary back, it only saves them about 1.5 million.

Not to mention that the Leafs get a stud 1st liner and a high end 1st round pic for two scraps going out the door. Gunnarrson is fine. Same with Beauchemin. Both are serviceable players but are not "stars" in any universe. If BB manages to pull this off, he is the GM of the century .. and the last one.

  5. JoelLeafs says:

    4th. No thoughts on Kuls?

  6. hockey_lover says:

Ok. Im totally asleep here lol

    I saw a 1st, not a 4th. Did not see Kulemin. Oooops.

Scratch my previous post boys. Its much more reasonable than I originally suspected.

  7. Steven_Leafs says:

Eklund is reporting that Anaheim is not shopping Bobby Ryan but they are listening to offers (obviously, everyone is always listening to offers) and apparently there are a lot of them.

The trade isn't that bad from a value point of view. I cannot see the Leafs moving Gunnarsson right now though and I can't see anyone including the Ducks taking on Lombardi's contract considering he got hurt again, at least for now.

  8. Steven_Leafs says:

very interesting. Basically the biggest piece going to Anaheim is the 1st which after getting Bobby Ryan will drop out of the top 5 and finish either top 10 or even top 15 (which makes the trade bad for Anaheim). I think if Anaheim makes a deal with Calgary for their top pick it would be in the off-season when the pick is a guaranteed top 5 pick.

  9. 93killer93 says:

It would give them some depth once Lombardi comes back.

    Kulemin-Getzlaf-Perry
    Hagman-Koivu-Selanne
    Lombardi-Cogliano-Simmonds
  10. JoelLeafs says:

Meh, does this surprise anyone? If you had Ryan on your team, would you be looking to move him in this situation? Same thing with the silly Getzlaf rumor. Pure Naval-gazing on the part of Leafs nation.

    … But we can dream.
  11. JoelLeafs says:

He he, sh!it happens. Philly gets robbed in the trade.

  12. dumbassdoorman says:

he is just the most likely of the three to move is what it is. They will get a premium for him for sure as most every team in the league would be interested in him. This will drive up prices, but don't forget it is said Ana, wants help on the back end. Someone will need to include a top 3-4 blueliner + prospect(s), picks etc.

  13. albertateams says:

I don't know if Bobby Ryan really moves the flames up the standings all that much. Long term he's exactly the player Calgary needs but there are bigger issues in Calgary right now than the talent level on the team. If they wait until the offseason and Calgary has a top five then they probably don't get a couple of other pieces, its risk reward. Its the same as the Kessel deal if Burke knew it was a top two pick no way he makes the same trade as if the pick is 5-10.

  14. JoelLeafs says:

I suppose, but I still don't think they will move any of the big-three.

  15. dumbassdoorman says:

I am not saying they, just saying if they do his is most likely gone. I mean unless Car and Ana decide to do a trade revolving around #1 pivots? Though with Getzlafs contract being up sooner it would be tough to gauge. I guess Murrays question becomes do you move a big time player or fire your coach? Romour also has it that if Carlyle is fired the Jets are hiring RFN.

  16. dumbassdoorman says:

I think the question behind Bobby Ryan and who trades for is do they see him as a star or a super star? Can he alone carry a team? Hard to say he is young, either way there are 29 teams that will be extremely interested.

  17. Steven_Leafs says:

I don't think it is a very good risk to take. A top 5 pick and 2 ok prospects is actually a fair deal for Ryan. A 10th-15th overall pick and 2 ok prospects are a pretty bad deal for Anaheim. No way they risk it if there is any chance Calgary can take Ryan and turn their season around.

  18. dumbassdoorman says:

I actually think a western team will have to pay more then an eastern team. So it may turn off some of the bidder?

  19. lafleur10 says:

I wonder how long it will take anaheim to fire g.m. bob murray after he trades and gets fleeced in the trade for boby ryan because no matter who gets him will fleece murray and the ducks will suffer because of it and murray will be the 1 who pays the biggest price, losing his job and wrecking that team for a short while !

  20. Steven_Leafs says:

    Run-on sentence. LOL.

  21. MystifoLeafs says:

Could very well see a trade between Nashville. Being a Western team they may have to pay a bit more but this is a sure fire way to prove to Weber and Suter your looking to win. With Nashville next year looking to spend to the cap. Maybe something around…

    1. Ryan Ellis.
    2. Jonathon Blum.
    3. Anders Lindback.
Of all of them I think the most enticing would be Ryan Ellis, could very well give the Ducks a potential top 4 defenseman and depending on if Hiller is still a bit shaky Lindback may be just what the Ducks need.
  22. mapleleafsfan says:

But only one exclamation point. I'd call it an improvement.

  23. glotz_99 says:

How about Schenn, Kadri, Grabovski and a 1st rd pick for Bobby Ryan?

  24. albertateams says:

It's high risk high reward look at Boston with the Kessel deal they rolled the dice and they got the 2nd overall pick. If Boston waits until the offseason no way that deal is the same.

  25. reinjosh says:

Ryan would be a nice add by them. However the rumors seem to suggest they want to move him East (although I've never really agreed with that whole argument/line of thinking).

Nashville certainly has some nice pieces to offer. Blum, Lindback, 2012 1st Rounder, Geoffrion?
Or Blum, Hornqvist, 2012 1st Rounder?
There seems to be an idea that Anaheim has a very tight budget. I'm not sure they can take back more salary and the prospect of getting cheaper assets might make it worthwhile to move.
  26. reinjosh says:

That would be a risky deal. The only real asset I'd be worried giving up in that 1st. The potential shot at Grigorenko would be…a pity to miss out on. But then again Ryan could be a boost to the team and push them up the standings. Plus he could be a long term replacement for Iggy. Tough call.

  27. JoelLeafs says:

lol, how dumb does Selanne feel now?

  28. Steven_Leafs says:

Agreed, but the difference here is that Anaheim is not about to lose Ryan to a RFA offer sheet or anything like that. They are in no rush to move him and if they are not guaranteed to get max value for their star player then they wont move him at all.

  29. Steven_Leafs says:

Remove Schenn from that deal and I would do it. Way too much IMO.

  30. mojo19 says:

So each team breaks down like this:

    Toronto
loses: Carl Gunnarsson, Nikolai Kulemin, Matthew Lombardi, 1st round pick
gets: Bobby Ryan, 4th round pick
*not bad. So the Leafs move a really steady d-man, a hard nosed two-way winger, and a speedy wing/center, plus their 1st, but bring in a top line winger, just coming into his prime.

    Anaheim
    loses: Bobby Ryan, Francois Beauchemin
gets: Wayne Simmonds, Nikolai Kulemin, Matthew Lombardi, 1st and 2nd round draft picks
*I figure Ryan is about worth Simmonds and Kulemin given what Carter/Richards were dealt for in the summer. Then Lombo and a 1st and 2nd for Beauchemin is good value, and helps stock the cupboard for a team that has an uphill climb for the rest of the season.

    Philly
loses: Wayne Simmonds, 2nd and 4th round picks.
gets: Carl Gunnarsson, and Francois Beauchemin.
*The value seems to add up here too. The Flyers have really good defense but Pronger hasn't been able to stay healthy over the last couple years and former star Timonen can't log the minutes he did before. This shores up their D for a long playoff run.

I think this is a pretty solid trade all around.

  31. mojo19 says:

Anaheim should send Philly a 3rd, that would make me a little happier with this trade.

  32. mojo19 says:

Bobby Ryan aside. I wouldn't be surprised to see Selanne's name mentioned closer to the deadline. Could bring back a 1st or 2nd and solid prospect as a deadline rental. Give Teemu one last playoff run before retirement.

  33. glotz_99 says:

Alright, well the Ducks are going to want at least one d-man in return, so how about Franson, Kadri, Grabovski and a 1st rd pick for Bobby Ryan.

The only problem with that is Franson is a RFA and Grabovski is a UFA at the end of the year, so they may not go for that.

  34. MystifoLeafs says:

Temmu can bring a 1st and a prospect no doubt. I mean he is a clutch player when needed and can compete. Only problem is he has a NMC and I doubt he would want to move.
