Eastern Conference, Round 2

What an exciting round 1, and hey look.. 1-4 made it to the second round. On a side note, if Anaheim beats Calgary on Wednesday, 5-8 make it in the Western Conference.

Here are my predictions for round 2.

OTTAWA vs. BUFFALO

Senators in 6

Plain and simple, Ray Emery need to play like he did against Tampa Bay for this to happen. My prediction is banking on the fact that he will. Ryan Miller will steal a game, and Ottawa will be outplayed one game for Buffalo’s two wins.

Ottawa had the best of the Sabres in the regular season, including a 10-4 pumping early in the season.

CAROLINA vs. NEW JERSEY

Devils in 6

The Devils are my pick for the cup AT THIS POINT, the way they manhandled the Rangers the past week and a bit.

The Devils are absolutely on fire. 15 straight wins. Brodeur is out of his mind.

I would pick them in 4 or 5, but Carolina has won 4 straight themselves, and have a deal of momentum as well.

This outcome would set up another Ottawa vs. New Jersey conference final. For myself, a Senators fan:

GO SENS GO (in 4 games)

GO CANES GO (in 7 games, all in overtime)

    LOL

“good one boss, good one. … what are we gonna do now boss … huh huh? what are we gonna do now?”

    another analogy?

you guys are Martin and Nelson on the Simpsons:

[Martin skipping around Nelson and singing]

Hark to the tale of Nelson,

and the boy he loved so dear.

They remained the best of friends

For years and years and years.

and so now we discover precisely what i’ve been saying all along …

isnt it interesting that your immaturity is reflected in the fact that YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN BANNED FROM THIS SITE AND YOU ARE ONE AWAY FROM GETTING BANNED AGAIN!

gee, i wonder why! i start this out as a simple critique on the lack of class of you and Jannetty and then you the two of you put on a full out display of exactly what i was critiquing in the first place AND

of why you have been banned so many times.

you know, you shouldnt be proud of being banned because thats quite an extreme thing and it reflects very badly on YOU because it it TOUGH to get banned.

    not suprised though.

how am i coward … if i PM you my personal information or the location/time of our “showdown” … it makes no sense …. I DO NOT LIVE IN TORONTO. YOU DO. YOU PM ME SO WE CAN WORK IT OUT.

you know this, but dont let reality come into this conversation now, … because its too inconvenient for you and your dellusional claims (which parallels Jannettys quite nicely i might add).

    p.s.

an immature, unoriginal person would respond to your hockey comments (congrats) by saying … “woo hoo yeah the sharks are beating the Oilers wooo hooo – bark bark bark” … but why would i do that?

    a) my team is out of the playoffs

    b) i didnt receive the lobotomy you guys did before you came on this site.

and … i just love this … ‘go jannetty the rocker, go oil go.’

    pathetic.

yup, you win alright, and this is how you done it:

    1) respond to my very valid criticisms of Jannetty (and you) by simply calling me names and compariing me to a wide variety of characters – a buckingham guard, a smurf, wilma flinstone, a stick in the mud, oh – yes, and that very classy decision to compare me to a drunk driver and a ‘queer’ (LOL … classy!).

    2) decide that Jannetty is right, i must be clarkmour, that is the only reason why someone would agree with me … (i guess we forgot to look at the original post with a couple of flame fans, i guess we forgot to read the comments of the SJ sharks fan and Nords (another respected guy here on HTR) on the other thread… oh well).

    3) and, oh yes, a particular low point … claim superiority in all aspects of life even though youve never met me, dont know my salary, my personal life, my education level, my strengths, my altheticism, my skills to defend myself and to harm others physically …

    4) finally, after exhausting all avenues, decide to challenge me to come to toronto and fight you… one in which you require me to PM you … um, something (?) … and one in which you do NONE of the work and provide me with NO information whatsoever about the details of your proposed WWE match.

  3. 92-93 says:

“i win. you lose. End of”

… THAT should be your new name for HTR when they ban you next time. yeah, that will fly well with others here who want to take you and what you say seriously.

it also sounds like someone who really, desperately, wants things to ‘end,’ wants me to ‘go away,’ because this whole experience has been too painful for them to confront.

why do you require a winner or loser? why do you require me to shut up, why do you require an end, if you feel that you have done so well here. … that you have displayed oh so much.

its kind of sad to read … and i picture you crying while you type it.

ok gretzkin, i’ll leave you alone.

and – despite your predictable denials to the contrary – i think youve learned your lesson for next time. be careful who you align yourself with, and what you say because you never know, one day … someone will come a long and teach you a very painful lesson ….

    both online and offline

offline: in the future, dont challenge people to wrestling matches that you dont intend to follow through on … and dont do it period, because its a very dangerous thing to do … there are people out there that are much more stronger or crazier than you or i believe it or not.

online: i never once – throughout this whole exchange – unloaded all i could on you … this was a nice little practice at verbal sparring. however, in the future, i hope to meet someone who doesnt BEGIN the verbal match with “FU” and “douche bag” … and actually begins with some credible, intelligent material that i can really sink my teeth into.

youre right, the shit**ng match just isnt my thing and not my strong point. its yours. and youve proven that from start to finish.

    thanks for the practice though.

and yes, i’ll leave you alone now.

  4. 92-93 says:

    not really,

but the proof is right there … for all to see…

if its not enough, let me know whats good enough …

either way, with each subsequent time that you make such dellusional comments, you will only reflect badly on yourself (and not even necessarily make me look good either … because you are at such a low, low level)

  5. Gretzkin says:

and on and on and on and on she goes…

I’ve never challenged anybody to anything that I didn’t intend on following through on, for the record.

And there are no lessons to be learned in any of this, except perhaps that silence (from all sides) can be much stronger than textual diarrhea. We are all guilty of this, but considering you are the self proclaimed Mr. Super Smart Guy, you are a bit more guilty of the whole thing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I can discuss maturely, and I can sling mud.

The complete player, you could say. But not once in this discussion did maturity play a roll. And I came in late, so the table had been set (by you) by the time I showed up

And, I’m not entirely sure I ever asked you for any advice?

Keep your advice at “Today’s Special’s”, and don’t bother me while I dine, unless it’s to offer me another beer, or a top up on my wine.

And, gee, thanks for taking it soooo easy on me. You are so intellectual that this really wasn’t your thing.

Shame on you! and your welcome.

Pehaps next time we’ll try it your way?

  6. 92-93 says:

    ‘the complete player’ …

if you want to describe yourself as this, and claim that by flinging your feces at another individual makes you ‘well-rounded’ … then i wont take that away from you gretzkin.

i hope next time we’ll try it my way. … for your sake of course.

and heck, for mine too! its hard trying to maintain a straight face throughout this whole thing, of continually coming back with some perspective on things …

its not so tough avoiding the whole ‘well-rounded’ shi**ing matches you seem so fond of … because all i have to do is avoid the name calling and hold my ground with facts (even, simply restating what you just said).

but you do seem a little extra off-your-game when it comes to responding to my posts, which is too bad. it really doesnt matter what the subject is, you seem bent on exploding at some point and criticising me for even talking about hockey. and then i have ‘the gall’ to call someone else out on talking at a level that either has nothing to do with hockey analysis or is at such a low, elementary level right?

and no, me simply differentiating between ‘high’ and ‘low’ doesnt make me an elitist or snobby, we all have standards.

  7. Gretzkin says:

You had it all wrong from the outset, you stubborn fool.

You are unbelievable, I’ll give you that much.

  8. 92-93 says:

I’ve posted this a couple of times already but I though it might be interesting. I’ve done my own rankings and based them on which teams CONSISTENTLY make the playoffs and go beyond the first round since 1999. In any case, alot of teams in the lower rankings and that do not even appear will begin to move up as the have-nots begin to benefit under the current cap (Pittsburgh, Florida, Atlanta, etc.):

First you must take into consideration that this provides only a fraction of NHL history (post-1999) so it is a pretty narrow time frame. if you wanted to expand the frame to the early-1990s then you would see the Habs move up in the rankings and the Leafs remain about where they are (thanks to the 1993 and 1994 playoff runs). The point is, i’ve seen much more narrower historical framing in some posts. In terms of Canadian teams in the Eastern Conference, the Leafs are the most consistent playoff club ahead of Montreal and Ottawa (my guess would be that Edmonton, Vancouver, and Calgary would be much closer in terms of how they rank with each other).

Second, if you want to go by teams that make the most of what they get, Buffalo seems to top the list. they don’t make the playoffs every year but they do a lot when they do make the playoffs.

Overall the best team in the East since 1999 is the Devils hands down.

The worst team in the East since 1999 has been Atlanta, who only came into the league in October 1999. The worst teams that have made the playoffs since 1999 have been Montreal, Washington, NYI, Florida, and the Rangers.

but remember, as Homer Simpson once remarked: “Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.”

“its not a matter that you can say what is on your brain in such a quick, concise, economical manner … “

… then the wheels started turning in your very small head … then you thought ‘ yeah, that’s what we do, yeah!’

i’ll repeat – quickly for you this time: “WHEN PUSHED TO THE TEST, WHEN TAKEN TO TASK, it quickly becomes very clear, very fast that neither you nor Gretzkin can handle what you dish out and you guys and the language you use quickly descends into childish name-calling and comparisons (re: every single post you guys have made in this thread)…. In other words, when the time comes to put up or shut up, you guys just resort to the lowest common demoniator because you’ve got nothing. note how short most of your posts have been. “
