Evgeni Malkin in Los Angeles

TSN is reporting that JP Barry and Evgeni Malkin have been together since the beginning of his dissapearance in Finland. On Wednesday Malkin received a US visa from the embassy in Helsinki and a few hours later were in route to the US.

The story includes that Magnitogorsk had Malkin’s passport until his trip to Finland, and this was the first opportunity for Malkin to be in control of it. There was also pressure from the team officials who followed Malkin in Russia to his home and pressured him into signing into staying in Magnitogorsk.

lol calm down, it’s called sarcasm.

As for this actual story, was it really worth posting? I think some of the people here are trying to stalk Malkin, you all care so much about where he is and what he’s doing at the very moment, calm the hell down until the Pens actually sign him.

After what Malkin has gone thru to get out of under the strong-arm tactics of the Metallurg team bosses and the whole Russian Hockey Federation, they should be the ones to be dragged into court to pay for their crimes against Malkin. Getting him to sign a contract at 3 am???? Come on. This kid has guts. Let us welcome him to the free world. George Bush should be happy, he should be the one to take credit and welcome him to the Land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Is it really worth posting? TSN and all web services have had it as their primary story, and up until this post, no one had any idea where he was or what had happened as far as this site. It’s just two short paragraphs updating things.

In fact, I think the real story that came out today is how Metallurg had been treating Malkin. Stalking him, following him, putting pressure on him, negotiating all night up to 3 am, holding on to his passport? Those are the characteristics of a regime, not a hockey team.

This goes far beyond Malkin and it will affect all NHL teams because it will have an impact on all Russian prospects and the contracts they sign and who they play for.

Well it came out in most papers today, but Malkin is skating with players like Rod Blake, Matt Schnider, and Anson Carter.

Now I just like to start things, but Carter’s agent, Pat Brisson, is the same as Malkin’s(http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/penguins/s_466620.html). And it wouldn’t be outlandish to think that since the Pens have interest in both Malkin and Carter, they would use these “pick up” practices to look at both of these two, and talk to Brisson at the same time.

This is a serious reach, I know, but you have to hope if your a Pens fan. Its not like we dont have the money, and another 5 mil (Carter at 2.5, and Malkin at 2.8 w/ bonuses) this year shouldnt break the bank, It would infact put us right at the 33 mil self imposed cap.

Well said kamullia. I knew there’d be more information like this on its way, and still yet more to come once Malkin has a press release.

I wonder what muckies thinks of all of this now? Care to reconsider the ‘evilness’ of Russia?

    Right on, right on.

just for those who say the pens should trade malkin………. think back to when lemieux was drafted the minnesota north stars offered the pens any 17 players from their roster for the no.1 pick (lemieux)…… malkin same as lemieux? who knows but no one will ever offer the same trade ever…. especially for a player who may leave at any second, as much as i hate to say it. However i just think him leaving russia and hidin and the whole ordeal shows his dedication!

I do not read muckies posts any longer. He has proven to me beyond doubt from reading his posts/articles for a while that not only he knows little hockey (which is ok), but that he is not willing to learn anything (including hockey). Muckies is the kind of person that will make up his mind about something and would commit seppuku before admitting being wrong.

Everyone who is half-educated and read his posts knew his position was just being stubborn without reason. Add his immaturity and why would anyone care what he reads/writes/thinks/does?

You are welcome to read anything you want, but I have come to the conclussion that it is a waste of time to read his posts.
