Fantasy 2006 All Star Game

As we all know, due to implications in the new CBA the players asked that there not be an All Star Game in years that the NHL participates in the Olympics.

Though I can understand the players stance, as they do not want another break in the season, I know I’ll still miss the All Star Game and Skill Competitions this year. By next January, it will have been three years since the last All-Star game was played.

Let’s just pretend there is a game this year…

Who deserves to be playing in it?

(let’s go with an East-West format)

I’ll post my teams later, but I’m curious as to your own opinions.

This should be fun.

this is not an east or west team this is both all star teams combined. im just listing players btw.

    Gm: Mike Milbury

Coach: Pat Quinn (should have been fired by now)

    Goalies:

    Patrick Lalime

    Jocelyn Thibault

    Defense

    Malakhov

    Gonchar

McCabe for his strong defensive play.

Sheldon Souray looks to duplicate last year so he is here.

    Aki Berg

    Forwards

    Sean Avery

    Steve Webb

    Tie Domi

    Nathan Perrot

    Brian Mcgratton

    Dan Lacouture

Andrew Peters such a talented player needed no help in making this team.

Belak hey we need a scorer.

    Clarke Wilm

    brad Larsen

feel free to add anyone to this list.

Is Souray trying to duplicate last year by doing nothing? I guess Wayne Gretzky doesn’t agree with your comments on Quinn though eh? Putting McCabe on this list is pretty ignorant. Aki Berg really ain’t that bad and Wilm is actually a pretty good 4th liner/penalty killer. I think you forgot Hinote Vaananen and May

you know… i was considering joe, just because he’s a vet and a sure hall of famer, but the centers i chose had better stats. if this was the real allstar game i’m sure he’d be chosen over marleau. fair enough.

steve webb is retired and now runs an ink toner business.

    i’m serious.

Kippers in the west and Gerbers not that great.

    Hasek, Brodeur, Lundqvist

  8. nyrules11 says:

I would say almost the same thing. Except no Gerber.

All but the last one make sense… I hate that bastard…

Why do you even mention Bonk? He’s our third line centre, no one expected him to put up any points.

I’d take Koivu, Kovalev, Zednik, Ribeiro, Ryder over Sundin, Lindros, Allison, O’Neill, Tucker any day. Why? Each and every one of the Leafs players mentioned are on the downside of their careers, while Kovalev, and maybe Koivu (who ironically will likely have a career year) are the only ones of Montreal’s top 5 on the downside. In terms of current talent, Sundin is easily the best of all of them, but after that it pretty much levels out.

meh he is still my all star 😀

  12. FoppaFlyers21 says:

yes i apologize for the mistake…. but i think Gerber’s good

  13. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

i would take hinotes penalty killing ability vaanenens defensive ability (nothing for may since i dont care much for him) over berg belak and wilm. yes i realize colorado lets up quite a few goals but hinote has excellent penalty killing ability. vaananen needs a good two way defenseman to be paired with then he can do wonders. i believe he was paired with foote last season and blake was with liles. well now there isnt a two way d man on colorado.

fair enough i guess. only problem with predicting all star teams now is that you can only take a certain amount for positions and you have so many what ifs before the break. i prefer to do the predictions right before the game, makes it alot more efficient.
