One other thing to consider is that no team with limited talent has ever been succesful by running and gunning. Teams with this make-up have only ever had any kind of success by playing a defense first, attention to detail type of system.

So before we hold the players accountable, maybe we should consider that the roster is not really all that great, and that the coaching system doesn't really suit this group of players. You can't hold the players accountable for not being able to play a style that they're physcially not capable of playing. This is a coaches job to evaluate and distinguish this.

Stajan, Antropov, Ponikarovsky, Hagman, Mayers, Toskala/Raycroft White etc. as a group had close to the worst record in the NHL. they're all gone and in comes Phaneuf, Versteeg, Giguere, Brown, Kessel (there with both groups) etc. etc. And the new group has one of the worst records in the NHL.

Two almost completely different teams, neither succesful at all. What is the common denominator here? I'm not going to definitively say that this teams record is all Wilson's fault, but he hasn't really proven anything since coming in. The special teams have been bad, regardless of what player has been out there, and we've just been plain bad for a long time now.

I don't think firing Wilson would hurt at all. We couldn't really be much worse. So I figure he's on a short leash depsite Burke's comments, and if the team struggles over the next month or so then i have to imagine the team will consider a coaching change. If he can turn things around, relatively, then he'll keep his job for a while longer.

Well, this is almost exactly what I posted a couple of days ago (minus the coaching choices), so obviously I agree.

In order to evaluate the Leafs...we need them to get them motivated and start developing some value. Coaching could create a new atmosphere and therefore possibly some wins which means if trades are coming, we get more back in return.

Sorry guys, don't like the Quinn option or King. Both are past their prime. Quinn just had a young team in Edmonton and decided himself that he wasn't the right guy. King has had limited success as a Head Coach in the NHL.

I would like to see MacTavish ( if Mac T won't do it, then Hunter) with Hunter and Gilmour as assistants. Leave the goalie coach alone but we need a new defence coach. This would put three fairly young and respected guys behind the bench. Mac T and Dougie would motivate while Hunter would send the tougher message when needed.

New young blood behind the bench to go with the young team. They grow and learn together and as we gather more talent the team will get better.

Coaching change IS the first step.

One more thing. Grabo has continued to improve and looks like a legitimate second line centre. Why does everyone want to trade him for a second rounder? A second rounder will probably not be as good as a 45-60 pt second line centre... which is Grabo's potential.
It's cool, I'm fine to sit in the cold backing Wilson, I like that he demands accountability from the players, it's something this organization needs to combat. He has no privileged players on his roster.

As for Don Cherry, he's proved himself unfit to coach an OHL team, he makes for good television nothing more.
Agreed, I almost wish Toronto went after Tim Thomas now but then we would of had WAY too much wrapped up in Goal.

Leafs I know I may be a bit hard on the guy I just don't like the way he is handling the players and even when they do amazing he still critiques them. Plus he now has no reason for why he kept Kadri down in the minors ( Thank you Don Cherry for pointing that out every Coaches Corner when the Leafs played.)

But I personally do not think Ronnie is the right fit for the build of our team and would personally like to see him not behind the bench for a few games. He can stay in the Organization but I am just tired of seeing Roster changes and Line changes in mid game.
