For people who need a perfect league:

Eastern Conference:

Atlantic: New York, Long Island, Hartford, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, (either Columbus, Washington or Atlanta)

Northeast: Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Buffalo, Boston

Western Conference:

Pacific: Los Angeles, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, (either Bay Area or Phoenix)

Central: Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Minnesota

24 other conference games, 24 other division games, 30 division games... 78 sounds like a nice number.

There's your perfect league. Hamilton is a sufficient city to support fans, but they have three teams relatively close, and Toronto is on the doorstep. If the New York-New Jersey area can't fully support three teams, I seriously doubt Hamilton could succeed. Besides, cities that had NHL teams leave should definitely come first.

Ok, I might be blinded by the fact that I'm from Montreal (in the province of Quebec for those who didn't know) but I think that if there's a canadian city that diserves a hockey team (and there is more than one) I think Quebec would have to come first. Why?

2 years ago, there was an exhibition game played in Quebec between the Habs and the Avs. The "Colisé" was completely sold out after a day. Really, I might be a habs fan since I know hockey exists, but Quebec surely can handle a hockey team, because over there (2h30 from Montreal) nobody forgot the great loss of their Nordique. A new team would certainly attract more people than the 5000 bored fans in Pittsburg. Hockey fans in Quebec never let their hockey team down during tough times (and god knows there were a lot of them.)

Bring back hockey in Quebec, bring back the biggest rivalery of all time! And make 10 Mtl-Qc match-up per year so we can hate each other again.

If somebody can tell me why Atlanta, Miami, Carolina and Phoenix diserve hockey more than Quebec, I'm waiting for your explanation (other than: "Gary Betmann is an idiot".)
