Could the Flames be looking to move a defenceman?

Anton Babchuk will likely be cleared for contact this week, meaning the defenceman is close to returning to the lineup. Or, at least, returning to the active roster. Hartley has, obviously, identified his top four blueliners, with the pairings of Jay Bouwmeester-Mark Giordano and T.J. Brodie-Dennis Wideman logging a lot of minutes. With Chris Butler, Cory Sarich and Derek Smith already rotating in and out, Babchuk’s return from a shoulder injury will only complicate matters. The Flames are likely listening to trade offers for a defenceman.

    Morrow, Kennedy, 1st

    Kiprusoff, Stempniak
    Holtby, Forsberg, 1st

assuming Washington is looking to upgrade their goalie with a UFA vet, the deal would be Kipper for Neuvirth + 1st at best IMO. Calgary gets a young goalie back for their rental goalie and a pick, solid return. I would think Calgary gets less than that though. Who knows.

The Iginla trade there I think would be bad for Calgary. While a high end prospect, a 2nd/3rd line young forward and a 1st isn’t bad, I would want more for Iginla.

The reason I made the Kipper trade as much as I did is because he has one more year on his contract. It is a lot but he would really be the only other number 1 available, besides Luongo, and he doesn’t have a lengthy contract like Luongo.

oh yeah, with an extra year he could fetch more, definitely not Holtby and 2 1sts though.

I suppose if Washington got desperate enough I could see Neuvirth, Wilson, 1st for Kipper.

Kiprusoff is way more clutch than Luongo as well and he’s just a better goalie.

I think that original Kipper trade to Washington is pretty fair. Washington shouldn’t do it though, because it would be desperate and they’ve got too many problems right now. Although a good goalie can solve a lot of problems, so its interesting.

But now Kipper is hurt anyways so who knows.

  2. Kipper is great, but no way should the caps do that.

  3. Nor should cal for the Iginla trade.
