Flames source denies rumours of Jarome Iginla trade

Even as the rumour mill swirls, the Calgary Flames are not shopping Jarome Iginla.

In fact, a source within the organization confirmed Wednesday morning that the Flames have not spoken with ANY National Hockey League team about a trade involving the captain and face of the franchise.

In other words, he is not on the trade market.

Word comes after the blogosphere erupted Tuesday night about a rumoured trade between the Flames and Los Angeles Kings involving prospect Brayden Schenn.

Dean Millard, of the Pipeline Show, reported Tuesday that the Kings are going hard after the Iginla, who is struggling.

Schenn, 19, has played eight games this season in Los Angeles. If he suits up for No. 10, that burns a year on his contract. Los Angeles wants to assign him to the American Hockey League for a conditioning stint.

According to Millard, the Kings want to leave the Flames the option of assigning Schenn to the Brandon Wheat Kings or keeping him with the big team for the rest of the season.

RIP Pat Burns. I think it's legit this time.

…Me too.  Remember back when Phaneuf was absolutely not on the market…you remember it, there was absolutely no way the Calgary Flames were going to trade Dion Phaneuf…and then they did.  Feels like that was less than a year ago…does that mean we should file this report under "obvious foreshadowing"??
