I think its mostly just between teams. Like the whole Edmonton-LA trade fiasco this summer with Smyth. LA waived the physical thinking the guy they were getting back was ready to come back and it turned out he wasn't and Lombo went batshit crazy.

Yeah that's more or less what I was thinking. Some type of medical waiver or disclaimer after they review the players medical records.

Does the league have any additional requirements or is it just between the teams?

I may be wrong but ...

On a regular trade, I believe a physical is part of the deal.

With a trade involving players who are on the injured list, I believe the physical is waived (although, Im pretty sure there is some form of "full disclosure" thing with medical files or something).

Again, dont quote me on it but I think thats how it works.

Does any one know what if any restrictions there are on moving injured players?

Is it just the two teams agreeing to accept an injured player as part of the deal or does it require additional consent from the league (outside of the regular league approval of a trade).
