Flyers undecided on roster as deadline looms

Sunday came and went with the Flyers still undecided about their roster and still over the NHL salary cap.

General manager Paul Holmgren said he hasn’t figured out just yet what becomes of Adam Hall and Bruno Gervais now that they cleared waivers.

“Without giving away any details, secrets, we’ll know [on Monday],” Holmgren said. “Nothing needs to be finalized from our standpoint till 5 p.m. tomorrow.

“That’s when I’ll make everyone aware of what we’re doing. I’m not trying to be secretive, but we’re still juggling things. I’m trying to decide what’s best.”

A decision on Hal Gill (tryout) is also pending on Monday.

The season begins Wednesday for the Flyers when the Toronto Maple Leafs — minus David Clarkson (10-game suspension) — visit the Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers have been trying to orchestrate a trade to lose significant salary cap dollars on defense but so far have not succeeded.

“We’ll figure out a way to be cap compliant,” Holmgren said. “That’s part of the job. You talk all the time with other teams. I don’t foresee doing anything that way [trade].”
