Forsberg to Philly? Not quite that easy

Alright, now that it looks as if Forsberg is probably coming back to the NHL, everyone is saying how Philly is his #1 destination.
Think again.
-Cap figures for Philly-including LTIR (around 6 million), Philly has less than .2 Million left for space this year according to www.nhlnumbers.com. These numbers aren’t exact, but they are at least close. What that basically means is if Philly wants to sign forsberg, they are gonna need to give him around the league minimum, that or wait until one of the last days of the regular season.

-Forsberg anounced his intentions to sign long term. The cap will probably hit around 53 million next season. Philly, with their massive contracts, has 49 million committed next season. That and they have to sign Jeff Carter, RJ Umberger, Stefan Ruzicka AND Jason Smith. It doesn’t look like they can afford him long term

-Another thing. Philly has 3 high quality centers right now in Richards, Carter and Briere. With Forsberg in the mix, somebody’s going to have to sacrifice their minutes (if not all of them). Carter plays wing most of the time, but doesn’t look good in that position. Plus, what message does it send these guys if you sign Forsberg?
Are you going to trade your future away in Carter just so you can get a few years out of an injury prone, declining talent?
