That’s likely proof that Marc Savard is headed out, they have that hole filled on the second line, with Holik.

  2. big_booty says:

Rangers can have Guerin. If Sather wants to throw a load of cash at a huge attitude who can’t keep himself in shape it won’t be any surprise.

The Leafs “are looking to bolster their defensive line-up?” They’re already on the hook for $10 million on the blueline (McCabe and Kaberle), who else could they afford? Probably some cardboard cut-outs (like in “Blazing Saddles”). At least an inanimate object will play better defense than McCabe.

    And so it begins…

  4. Enigma says:

If Savard does become available i’d go after him if i’m the leafs. They’re rumoured to re-sign Allison, i’d let him go and have Marc instead.

  5. mikster says:

In shape? Physically? Guerin’s been fit. He just could not pull it off in Dallas, as many UFA’s don’t pullit off there in the first place

For cheap? Guerin would be useful for the Rangers.

Leafs could use a guy like Zyuzin….depth d-men who do a good job.

  6. afanofthelakings says:

Montreal Canadiens just signed Dman Francis Bouillon to a 3 year contract, his salary will average 1,89M$ per year

Langenbrunner re-signed with the Devils prior to the deadline, according to

  8. intothevoid001 says:

i haven’t heard that rumor at all. it would be stupid for them to resign allison… typical step forward-step back idea

  9. cwthrash says:

The likely proff came about a month or soago, with Waddell’s less-than-stellar comments about Savard’s season.

There were a couple articles in the last week or two that sinched it. None of them said it outright, but it was easy enough to read between the lines and tell he wasn’t coming back.

Roloson stays with the Oilers, 3 years contract.

Brendan Shanahan I can see going to any original six team except Chicago. New York has interest in Guerin, and Guerin is alot like Shanahan, except worse. Boston is where his wife is from, and apparently he considered a move there last year. Montreal is obviously on his list, as are the Red Wings, and as per my last Shanahan based comment, and an article I found that I posted there, he was a Leaf fan growing up. Even Chicago wouldn’t be that far off. Good for him, the Original Six are the coolest 6 teams and everyone knws it.

Brian Leetch is an interesting situation. I’d add him if I was Toronto. They won’t, but I would, it’d help McCabe because he made McCabe look good, and it’d help Kaberle, because they’re so similar. I’ve also heard Minnesota and New York are interested.

Zdeno Chara is headed for New York, I guarantee it! No, I don’t, I really have no clue where he’s going.

The great thing about teams like New Jersey and Minnesota is they like to get Americans, because they’re American teams, with American management, Leafs and Habs should think that way, get the Southern Ontarians/French Canadians, people like to watch people who they relate too, I’d relate alot better with a guy who grew up around the corner for where I am now, like Kris Draper, Bryan Martchment, or Ron Tugnutt, then I would with a guy from Russia. Calgary and Edmonton are loaded with Albertans, aren’t they?

  13. LeafsLegacy says:

    nah… Jay McKee

  14. habs_punk says:

It’s true, but I don’t know how much the fans being able to relate to a player is going to play into Toronto or Montreal’s signings. These are two teams that are going to sell out every game regardless of where their players come from.

  15. LeafsLegacy says:

Any coverage,radio/tv, on FA signings and trades?

  16. LeafyMcLeaf says:

Well ya, but I still think it’s more fun to watch people who grew up in Ontario. Every hockey player whos jersey I have is an Ontarian player… I have 2, Lindros, and Domi, although my birthdays on the 12th, so I’ll prolly get Ovechkin, Smyth, or Thornton.

I like watching Canadians, they keep it simple. There are alot of Europeans that could be so much better if they didn’t over think things, there’s a reason Einstein aint a hockey player.

    Portugal Sucks

    From your boy Larry Brooks:

“Coming off the lockout season during which he participated in negotiations as a VP of the NHLPA and thus was unable to devote any meaningful time to physical conditioning, Guerin registered 13 goals and 40 points in 70 games last year.

It’s not known whether Guerin would be willing to accept a one-year deal to come to the Rangers.”

  18. Habfanforever says:

Habs should make an offer to Elias like many other teams, hopefully he’ll realize what a great city this is and sign here. They should then get a powerplay d-man like Kubina for example, to help out Markov. They should then trade away Souray for a solid 2nd line winger.

It doesn’t matter what the Laughs do, they’ll suck more than ever as it seems JFJ still doesn’t know where he is or what he’s doing.

  19. LeafsLegacy says:

Ummmm okay??? bud! (Arnott, McKee, Elias, Kubina, Roberts) these were all suggested, basically by good sources and JFJ himself. Man stupid Hab fans!
