Gary Roberts Back to Calgary?

Canoe.ca (Calgary Sun) is reporting on the possibility that Gary Roberts may be on his way back to Flames organization.

While there are conflicting reports HTR believes that it is likely that he will be on his way back to Calgary for the remainder of his career if Roberts decides that’s what he wants to do. Roberts began his career many years ago with the Flames and the Lightning are set to miss the playoffs. It only makes sense for Tampa to honor a request to move the aging star if he wants to move on. It should not be forgotten that Roberts helped the Flames to win the Cup way back in 1999.

Other tidbits from the article include the fact one possible reason why the Canucks did not work harder to resign Markus Naslund. “Naslund has 19 goals this season and none are game-winners.”

flames won the cup in 1989 brahh

and yeah it could work out
but i dunno how much roberts has left in him
i think the flames should target somebody
that has a bit more left in the tank,
or even stand pat, they are doing quite well
and will do even better when bourque and
langkow are back. just maybe add a
back up for kipper, i think legace
    and then maybe depth defenceman

Ahh… happy to say I "reported" this rumor yesterday (lol).

I'd take Roberts over nothing, but Bill Guerin is the guy I'd love to see the Flames add as far as rentals go. Obviously he's a step or two up from Roberts, so the cost will be higher, but I'd be interested. Wonder if the Isles would like Eric Nystrom based on his father's history there? Not saying I don't like Nystrom, just a thought. Nystrom & a 2nd??

no thanks. I doubt Roberts can really bring something to the Flames that they dont have right now. Iginla, Bertuzzi, Bourque, Glencross, Moss, Nystrom, Roy, Primeau (when he's not injured) and Prust is enough grit for me up front.

I'd rather see them trade for a skilled guy ala Sullivan.

I'd like to see him in Montreal.  I think he could teach the Habs young players a lot.  Wouldn't expect anything else from him except to show the young guys what it is like to be a warrior.
