Goodbye Joey

This is one of the most upsetting news so far this season. Joe Nieuwendyk, one of the greatest players in NHL history, has decided to hang them up due to health reasons. The class act racked up 1126 points in 1257 games and won three Stanley Cups with the Calgary Flames, 1989, Dallas Stars, 1999, and the New Jersey Devils, 2003.

Thanks for a wonderful career Joey, you did good.

Let the Hall of Fame trial begin.  I'm saying no based on the Dino Ciccerelli comparison.  One Conn Smythe, +1,000 points, 3 all-star appearances will put you on the wait list for the next 8 years.

Thanks Joe, always been a huge fan, I'm sorry JFJ ruined your chances at that cup record…

Joe Nieuwendyk IS a hall of famer.

Nieuwendyk, a cup on three different teams, 1000 points, 500 games.

To the guy with the Dino comparison, alot of players worse then Dino are in, and I suspect it's because of the Luke Richardson thing.

Either way, Dino deserves in too.

This is kinda weird, because I was in the middle of typing up an article (i do them on Word Perfect first) which is part of a weekly article thing, and I was just saying something about whether Nieuwendyk was a hall of famer, when I read this. The rest of my explaination will be posted tomorrow.

He also had a Calder, was the second rookie to score 50 goals and won a gold medal at the Olympics.

Ciccerelli isn't in because the standard for HOF for a guy who played very few meaningful games in his career is 700 goals (Dionne and Gartner).

The minimum for a 3 time Cup winner is 400 goals.

How many ups did Dino win?

  6. habswinthecup-again says:

Sorry, obviously that should be Cups not ups.

Good luck Joe, it is always sad when a player does not get to leave on their own terms.

Hey everyone I think here is the solution I think that Jauque Martin and the Flordia Panthers should to talk to John Muckler and the Ottawa Senators about making a trade for one of the Ottawa Senators young centermen such as Antoine Vermette and a defencemen such as Tom Preissing and they should trade Gary Roberts for both of those guys and a draft pick Gary Roberts is what the Ottawa Senators need a grity left winger and vetern leadership that is what Gary Roberts brings and that is what the Ottawa Senators need to get them over the hump Gary Roberts would.

    Here is a trade.

    To:Ottawa Senators
         Gary Roberts
        draft pick 2007

    To: Florida Panthers
          Antoine Vermette
Tom Preissing don't  like him not phisacly enough.

  13. LeafyMcLeaf says:

    1) It isn't going to cost that much to get Roberts… Leafs could've had him for nothing this summer…

    2) Tired of losing to Roberts?

    3) I still want the Leafs to add Roberts at the deadline.
