Guerin To Islanders?!

According to hockeybuzz.com the NY Islanders a very close to acquiring Blues’ veteran forward Bill Guerin. Who the Blues want back in return is unknown but expect a deal to go down very soon. The Islanders are apparently the frontrunner (when the hell did that happen?) and is one of the final two teams fighting for the services of Guerin. The other team still in the running is unknown at this point, but be sure to keep on the lookout for Guerin in a new uni very soon! Here’s the link:

All I know is that the Isle would make a lot of cup contenders happy if Guerin doesnt land in one serious rival….  Guerin could make a decent fit with Yashin though…  And since Garth Snow is the GM over there, I guess we can expect anything!

  2. Motherpucker says:

Consider the source…Eklund is about as reliable as the trusty 10 year-old condom sitting in a virgins wallet.

  3. gizzy77 says:

This would be a great adition to the Isles, I just hope we don't give up to much for him. I think would would be able to compete with the big guns in the east Devils, Sabers ang Tampa and the Senators. Three good lines

    Yashin-Guerin-Blake
    Kozlov-Satan-Tambaline
    Stillinger-Hunter-Hilbert

  4. vindictiveb says:

Eklund has said there is another team that wants him!

So if you send him $19.99 He will tell you who it is when the trade is done!

    LOL

I posted the same post on his site and got bannedLOL

  5. TheFish12 says:

Correct me if I am wrong, but does Guerin not have a no-trade clause?  And if he does, why would he waive it to go to the Islanders, a team on the bubble to even make the playoffs?  I do not see this trade going down.

  6. thomasm says:

You can listen to the interview on http://wfan.com and Melrose never mentions Guerin or any other trades at all during the interview.

  7. aam2007 says:

I doubted the Islanders all season but over the last couple of weeks they have caught my eye.  DiPietro is giving them a chance to win every night and if they add Guerin I think they are in good shape. Of the teams on the bubble I think they would be the best positioned to take the final play off spot. Does anyone know what they would be likely to give up?

  8. thomasm says:

Probably nothing considering that this trade is a fantasy. Melrose never said this. You can listen to the interview yourself for confirmation.

If you want to speculate about it regardless (who knows, maybe the Isles are interested), and if you go by what was said at the GM meetings, it sounds like the Blues would want a 1st rd pick and Okposso (sp?) or O'Marra. I don't see Snow paying that kind of price.

As an Isles fan, I'd love to see them get Guerin, but at a reasonable price.

  9. gizzy77 says:

If the Islanders are going to part with any of there prospects my GUESS would be Robert Nilsson, this guy has great offensive talent not the best defensive foward and he's not a Nolan type player. Opusko and O'Marra are Nolan type players and are pretty much untochable. I think Nilsson is more of a west coast player anyway he's fast and is a great playmaker.

I hope the Islanders lose every fricken game.  The only reason you have been good this season is because of ted nolan and jason blake.  No one else, your team sucks wait until the rangers beat you four straight games.  Then we will be in the playoffs and you be on the outside looking in.  So good luck playing golf this summer once again while the rangers are competing for the cup. We are going to add brewer or blake, and we are going to add smolinski or tkachuk.  If the Rangers played any other team the last two games, they would have won.  Brodeur is so good and the refs love the devils and hate the rangers.  So you can cheer us on in the playoffs, while you are watching us and not your team.

  11. thomasm says:

    Musn't … feed … the … troll …. argh, I can't resist!!

Let's see, since 2001-2002, the Isles have only missed the playoffs once, while the Rangers have only made the playoffs once. So, it's plainly the Rangers who are the ones with annual golf reservations.

No way Tkachuk is going to waive his no trade clause to come to a non-playoff team like the Rangers.

The Devils are a disciplined, well coached team, and the Rangers are not.

The Rangers seriously  compete for the cup .. now there's a common occurance! That happens, what every 40 years or so?

  12. hnm27 says:

i wouldnt want to see robert go anywhere, hes really good for the attack, but apparently nolan really doesnt like his style and they could deal him, but also look at the possibility of bergenhiem and mb a 2nd round pick or something like that… guerin could fit in really well though i think add some more scoring because the islanders have pretty much no pure goal scorer on this team, and hes a physical player plays alot like shanny in my opinion…

but i guarentee the rumor is total BS. but then again most rumors are… hence why they are only rumors.

  13. hnm27 says:

haha and man… look at the rangers team… they have what most rangers would call "the best goalie" because there full of themselves in henrik, and u got ur jagr shan nylander straka prucha… all guys that can run around and put the puck in the net… and yet…. they are still behind the islanders a team that was supposed to finish dead last in the league this season and was the worst organization everyone would say…. sooo if ur team wasahead in the standings… mb islander fans would care what yous said, but most prolly wont…. so u have fun knowing MSG will be empty of blue shirts once again this spring…

  14. wingsfan13 says:

hockeybuzz is the least reliable rumor site out there.  less than 1% of the trades they say actually happen.  they just say they talked to this gm or that vice prez.  give me a brake. they are a bunch of wannabe liars.  guerin is not going to NYI.  i guaranted it 100%.

  15. baltic_thunder says:

LOL… the best line I have heard in a long time. I tip my helmet to you Motherpucker. Sweet.

  16. baltic_thunder says:

This is a sweet deal for the Isles if it pans out. What a great fit. It's sure to get them into the playoffs. This deal will costs the Leafs a birth.

  17. Isles4Cups says:

according to Newsday.com it's not true. As much as I would love to have him St. Louis is asking for Okposo and Snow has said he is untouchable.

"Some media outlets have reported the Islanders are close to landing St. Louis forward Bill Guerin, but in fact, they aren't among the bidders. To acquire Guerin, they would have to part with Kyle Okposo, the seventh overall pick in last June's draft, who is enjoying a great freshman season at the University of Minnesota. If the Islanders have one untouchable player, it's Okposo."
