Habs call up O'Byrne

Recently recovered from injury (broken thumb) Ryan O’Byrne has been called back to the NHL from Hamilton. (Stated on Canadiens official website)

Before the injury, O’Byrne had been impressive in his first 11 NHL games, delivering 20 hits and blocking 18 shots. The injury had occurred late December when he fought Tanner Glass in a game against the Florida panthers.

This guy is big, hits hard, and will drop the gloves when called upon (Mike Komesarek style). His place in an NHL line-up is all but assured for years to come…
O’Byrne has played just two games with the Bulldogs since being re-activated, simply to regain form. He is now on his way to Tampa to join the big club, and will be available for Tuesday night’s game against the Lightning.

The move is typical of the habs organization, who regularly shuffle the line-up when the going gets tough. After the 4-2 loss against the Leafs Thursday, and the crushing 6-1 defeat against the Senators Saturday, coach Carbo rightfully needs to address his team’s defensive play.

Important to note is that Roman Hamrlik has missed the past few games with the flu and should be back in the line-up Tuesday as well. The two of them were often paired for O’Byrne’s first games.

I think there’s a good chance we see these guys playing together again this week. Who will be chosen to sit those games out?

You never know what Carbo is going to decide, but I say Brisebois probably gets another break and maybe Streit gets moved up to forward again, with Boullion and Gorges pairing up for the 3rd duo. Kostopoulos would sit out for Streit.

Thoughts, ideas?
