Man, I hope this trade is nothing more then bull crap…and what gives me hope is that it is involving Dumont.

Listen people, the Habs roster doesn’t need Dumont ESPECIALLY with Koivu coming back. Our top lines are pretty much set, and I don’t see why Gainey would sub Dumont for Higgins, Ryder, Kovalev, or Samsonov. In this trade we don’t even make room for Dumont, who is a player who needs to play on the top 2 lines in order to be effective. Chip is not ready for the NHL, he needs a season in the AHL.

And why in the world would be trade a great and improving defensive rookie like Komisarek?? Just because he is from Long Island doesn’t mean we are trading him. I have hopes (and I don’t think I am wrong at all for thinking ths) that he because an integral part of our defensive corp. He is exactly the kind of d-man we need, and he improved so much last season and showed signs of still improving.

Does this trade improve our team? No. Where would Dumont fit…and if anyone says the third line again…he is NOT a two-way player!!!

If this trade happens, I’m going to be pissed…Gainey, keep up the good work but don’t pull of this trade!!

  2. bobsUruncle says:

You seem like a big HAB fan. so I gotta ask…how is it that you see the top two lines being set?

Although I don’t like Ribeiro and think he should be gone! he DEFINITELY will not complete the TOP line. Kovalev, Samsonov, and Ribeiro all like to carry the puck. This means that they won’t have anyone in front of the net, nobody sigging in the corners for loose pucks…lest we forget that NONE of those three even know where the defensive zone is!!

Carboneau will have to find chemistry with someone else between Sami and Kovi. His current options are: Koivu (also like to carry the puck), Plekanec(good choice, but I think he is such a good 3rd line center), Bonk (will never catch up to those two), Begin (not a top line center), Johnson (also not a top line center).

I have a strong feeling that HIGGINS will find his comfort level between our two superstars…AND THIS IS HOW DUMONT FITS IN TO THE EQUATION.

Assuming any of these rumors prove to be true…

    Samsonov Higgins Kovalev

    Dumont Koivu Ryder

    Perezhogin Plekanec Johnson

    Begin Ribeiro/Bonk Murray

Although most of these rumors prove to simply be fun reading…there is a reason why they get posted. People somewhere are finding logical solutions to problems.

I personnaly hope that Komisarek goes nowhere (because I believe he is a top 2 Dman), you really never know. I would just hope that we would get something better then Martinek back

  3. skandelousHABSfan says:

This trade is ridiculas. Why would the Habs trade away their best young Dman for a bunch of grinders and low end D?

If this trade happens, ill eat my shoe!

  4. skandelousHABSfan says:

Good on you, i agree with everything you are saying. Higgins very well might move to centre, and he would fit in well standing in front of the net while samy and kovy fly around the outside.

But dont worry about the Komesarik rumor. it is just a load of horse $hit. Gainey loves Komy and the only way hell give him up is if we get a #1 or 2 Dman back in return!

  5. ManiaX says:

According to Eklund from Hockeybuzz.com, 3 sources are telling him that Komisarek and Bonk might be heading to the NY Islanders to free up some cap room, but there is no details as what would montreal trade them for (draft picks?)

  6. ManiaX says:

The person/user who posted this rumor on allducks.com, supposedly was one of the first people who reported pronger was heading to the ducks. And now here’s more from him…”The deal is between Montreal and New York. It free’s up money to sign JP Dumont. As far as I know it is a done deal, but all the players need to take physicals and there is an issue with a couple players who are currently overseas. I don’t see any of this being a problem.

The Pittsburgh component comes from a series of phone calls and other sites reporting the same thing….It is a rumour, but it’s a serious rumor. It could really really happen.”

The only thing that makes me doubt him is that he also claims the Malkin to Montreal rumour is possible.

“The proposed rumour would see Montreal trade to Pittsburgh — Michael Ryder, Mike Ribero, Sheldon Souray, David Aebischer and a first round pick in 2007. Pittsburgh would send Malkin to Montreal.”

  7. habs4eva says:

It better not happen komi is gonna be a great d-man and i think we should keep for as long as possible but i think we can get rid of bonk.

  8. LuckyLuc98 says:

Exaclyy what i was thinking… there is a piece of the puzzle missing… I think NYI will give someone veryy good in return. This trade would make sense as long as komisarek value is fully exchanged by NYI. Garth Snow Gm hahaha good luck buddy.

  9. LuckyLuc98 says:

    Mike York

    Sean Berghenheim (minor league contract)

    Radek Martinek

    Jeremy Colliton (minor league contract)

    3.55 Millions

    Mike Ribeiro

    Mike Komisarek

    Radek Bonk

    5.25 millions

This trade saves us 1.7 millions and the Habs stand at 42 million, thus giving Gainey enough money to sign Dumont.

    Samsonov – York – Kovalev

    Higgins – Koivu – Ryder

    Dumont – Begin – Johnson

    Perezhogin – Plekanec – Kostitsyn

    Markov – Dandenault

    Souray – Rivet

    Streit – Martinek

    Bouillon IR

  10. LuckyLuc98 says:

I’d rather have Trent Hunter then York but i don’t know if Garth Snow is that inexperienced lol

  11. souray_brawls says:

i dont think this will happen, you never no… but atleast its far more believable than the malkin to montreal trade rumor

  12. Les-Habitants says:

As much as Ribeiro likes to carry the puck, his greatest asset (maybe his only one) is that he can feed the puck to his wingers pretty effectively. This is not to say that I’ve been made frustrated by him on countless occasions, but he can find the open man. Additionally, Carbo said this was the line he had in mind.

Higgins had a great end of the season on the wing, and I don’t see him being moved back into center…i think they want him to develop as a scoring winger. Plekanec showed a fair bit of promise, and we also have a number of center’s in the depth chart.

Also, Ribeiro cannot play a checking line role!! He doesn’t have any of the necessary skills: grit, energy, speed, or size. He really is only usefull on a scoring line,so to suggest he’d be on the 4th line is kinda crazy. If Ribeiro were traded, then maybe, but I really don’t see him being dumped right after being given a raise. Gainey must have saw something in Ribeiro, and I don’t think Higgins can jump into fill the 2nd line center role after playing an entire season on the wing. Maybe Plekanec or Johnson, but even then…

  13. leafmeister says:

not a good trade or eiter teams

  14. Air33 says:

Brutal trade. come on… i think they can get more then that from garth snow

  15. christos says:

hey, quick question, off topic i know, but what about kozlov? wouldent he be a good, cheap fit ? i mean, russian, a lil lazy, but it oculd work..no ?

  16. Les-Habitants says:

Kozlov is a large, somewhat skilled center who would add much needed size up the middle. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I am pretty sure he played with Kovalev and enjoyed a lot of success playing together.

Like you said though, he is getting old, he is a little lazy and his production has dropped. Additionally, Ribeiro or another center would have to be dropped from the roster. At this point, despite my constant frustration with Ribeiro, I can’t see happening. Gainey gave Ribeiro a raise, something which hurts his trade value more then it helps. In reality, I don’t see how dropping Ribeiro, who has youth and potential, for Kozlov would be a significant upgrade…which is exactly why I don’t see Kozlov happening, but it too crossed my mind.

  17. Kosovo says:

    A other stupid rumors.

  18. passionch says:

    Not going to happen.

  19. habsoverserver says:

I think the whole world knows that Wang is out of town on vacation and has left explicit instructions not to do anything til he gets back. This is why the Isles still have not signed DiPietro.

Hence any imminent deal with the Isles would have to be the product of someone’s imagination.
