Hackett Out Minimum 6 Weeks

TSN is reporting that Montreal goaltender Jeff Hackett will be out a minimum of 6 weeks due to a separated shoulder suffered in the game against Buffalo on Oct 20/2001.

This will be a good test for Jose Theodore. Lets face it the Habs have come back down to earth. If Thoedore plays well, and the team can play somewhere around .500 hockey while Hackett is on the shelf, it would be a nice boost for the entire team and make Hackett a little more tradable in the eyes of GM Andre Savard. Over the past 2 years Hackett has been a “confidence plug” for Theodore. Thoedore starts to become a little shaky, insert Hackett. That’s why Hackett hasn’t been traded. Even this season, Theodore doesn’t play well a couple of days ago, Hackett starts last night. If Theodore can, at his young age, put the team on his back and carry the team through the next few weeks, look for Hackett to be traded around the Allstar break.
