That’s a decent signing for Sakic/Forsberg’s set-up man, their top scorer last time they won the cup, a Richard trophy winner, and on of their stars in their prime considering Kariya and Palffy each went for 4.5/year.

Then again, the guy can play just about any position. You could probably slap the goalie pads on him, and he’d perform. Every team need a Konowalchuk.
Sat, 06 Aug 2005 18:06:55 +0000http://localhost/wordpress24/?p=10030#comment-110584Need I remind you guys that neither tanguay/hejduk/drury were projected to be the players they are right now (hejduk being drafted in the 4th round 87th overall..John Michael Liles was projected to barley make the nhl at best and he was the best rookie defenseman last season. The Avs work to make players good, all the players they have traded or lost to free agency got good with the avs…John Klemm, Aaron Miller, Greg Greg DeVries especially since he was hardly considered a good defenseman when the avs picked him up. The Avs dont really need the prospects at this point, Hejduk and Tanguay are young enough to carry the team for another 10years and they have a young defense core which still has a few years to blossom. This team isnt going anywhere. Most of their prospects are off the board until they make their mark in the NHL.
