Hockey back in Quebec soon?

Marcel Aubut, who was Quebec Nordiques’ former owner before they moved to Colorado, told yesterday that he believes the Nordiques could be back in the league.

There’s more to this story…What’s more interesting is there is a rumor in Quebec Area that Guy Lalibert√©, owner of “Le Cirque du Soleil” along with the owner of “Couche-Tard” would both be very interested in bringing back an hockey team in Quebec city. And believe me if these guys want something they got the $$$ to get it!

But which team could moved in Quebec? (or Winnipeg)

Pittsburgh? Carolina? Florida? Nashville? Anaheim?

All good choices but as a futur Nordiques fan I would prefer if the Pens would become our new team, bringing back Crosby in Canada.

I live in the U.S., but I think it’s absurd that there are two teams in Florida and only one in the Prov. of Quebec.

TB had to give away tickets last year to get people to the games. This during a year when they won the cup.

I couldn’t agree more. Unless a politician can make a case that the team is strong arming them for concessions( a new lease or even a new stadium) which would RAISE TAXES, they will do anything to avoid being seen as loosing a franchise, especially in a sports town like PITT (even if it isn’t a hugh hockey town). Look at what happened to the city gov.s of baltimore after the Colts and Cleveland after the Browns. And if you don’t think that money and political clout are the biggest factor in NHL franchise considerations, you might recall that there is a team opperating as an add on to the California Adventure theme park and named after a sh**** kids moviewhile stadiums sit empty in Quebec and Winepeg.
