Well hockey fans this years trade deadline has now come and gone. There were several
blockbuster trades such as the Keith Tkachuk and Nikolai Khabibulin and many smaller deals
to add some depth for the playoff run. In any event it has been a fun and interesting year
for hockey trade rumors.

For the next several weeks there will be rumor
updates as they arise. At this point there is only speculation regarding players who are
set to become unrestricted free agents and where they will land in the summer. Some of
these great names include Joe Sakic, Jeremy Roenick, Rob Blake and Martin Lapointe.

One of the silent rumors that has begun to arise is that the Black
Hawks may be interested in making a pitch at Roenick in an effort to bring him back to the
city where he began his career.

In Ottawa the summer will certainly be interesting as this is the
year when Alexei Cashin Yashin officially becomes a group 2 restricted free agent.
Although the Senators are stating that they would like to resign him to a multi year
contract Yashin may make signing any deal tough because of the hard line stance that he
took with the club last season when he failed to report.

One has to wonder if Eric Lindros will finally be traded in the off
season. With the trade deadline now passed there may be some time for both Lindros and
Clarke to “cool off” from their argument. On a lighter side one thing that we
can all hope is that Clarke doesn’t make a mistake on draft day and trade Lindros to two
seperate teams as was the situation when Lindros was traded from Quebec to both the Flyers
and Rangers.

Message to Ranger fans – Here at hockeytraderumors.com we would like
to hear your responses as to why the Rangers appear as if they are going to miss the
playoffs once again. From the outside they appear to have an abundance of talent but few
players who are willing to pay the price game in a game out. Do you think that they should
be playing their young talent such as Pavel Brendl? Should they dump some of their higher
priced players such as Kamenski and Graves?

Finally, in Vancouver the injury to superstar player Markus Naslund
was sure a blow to the Canucks and their loyal fans. Naslund has emerged as one of the
best team captains in the game and played with both heart and leadership all season. It
was a sad day when he was lost for the season last week and all Canuck fans wish for a
speedy recovery for this classy hockey player.
