Horton locked up for 6 years !!!

The Florida Panthers have locked up one of their young stars today, signing Nathan Horton to a long-term deal.

Horton, 22, inked a six-year, $24 million contract.

In 82 games with the Panthers last season, the native of Welland, Ontario recorded 31 goals and 31 assists for 62 points.

Drafted third-overall in 2003, Horton has played in 208 career NHL games and has accumulated 73 goals, 58 assists and 207 penalty minutes.

    Solid deal, nothing better than locking up young talent long term. 4 million over 6 years sounds like a bargain to me, Horton has the potential to score 50 goals next year. Just a Win/Win situation for both parties.

    Agreed.  He will be a star, he has the potential to be a great goal scorer and his potential is starting to really show over the last few years.  6 years down the road if he hits his potential he will be a steal.

    One of the best and logical signings in a while.Finaly a player is getting a logical longterm deal.As a sens fan with that new contract he got i wish a Redden for Horton deal straight up now.

    Great signing by Martin! 4 million a year will look like a bargan for this guy if he puts up 40 or more goals.  And he will, maybe not this comin year, but the next.  Kid just knows how to score.
