HTR HOCKEY QUIZ

ANSWERS

I’d like to point out that I’ve been taken by surprise by the fact that some questions had more than 1 right answer. When it was the case I gave the point for any of the right answers.

Also, for the ”What’s the link” questions, I wanted something very specific. So when someone answered something right, yet not enough specific (example: ”They are all goaltenders”) I awarded 0,5 instead of 1 point to be fair.

Thank you all for making this contest so fun and congratulations to all the winners!

I’d also like to thank Trademan, owner of HTR who provided all the prizes for me to give away. Without his participation there would have not been this contest.

Hopefully you enjoyed it and like me, it made you forget about the lockout for a atleast some days…

    oh and thanx, it’s appreciated!

  2. ranger_fan says:

Yeah, that one got all of us. Thanks.

  3. Lint07 says:

Since the link between them was their helmet and I knew what you meant you got the full pont.

  4. markjohnston says:

thanks flyer_fan, I was under the impression time would count for much more, so I pushed it hard. didn’t hurt that I had nothing else to do that night and was here right when the quiz was posted.

I won’t lie and say it was all in my head, but I’m lucky to be a bit older than some of you (I’m 25) and can remember a lot of those players, their numbers and moments.

all in all, a great quiz and hey, let’s give credit to everyone who stuck their head out and tried – even if they scored low. hopefully we all learned a new thing or two (I know I did) and had some fun!

  5. Lint07 says:

Serdy I am still awaiting your PM to claim your prize.

  6. PayUpSucka says:

I know for absolute sure that MacEachern was one of the captains of the Thrashers, i’m looking at a poster of him from Hockey Digest that shows the big C clearly on the front of the jersey. No big deal, but he wasn’t included in Marco’s answers.

  7. nordiques100 says:

Had to hockeyhead. with the rate the bruins are going they may be the only team to play with replacement type players even if there is a new CBA.

I hope you like watching john carter, john blue, andrew mckim and brent hughes play for the B’s again.

  8. Lint07 says:

He is still Atlanta’s captain so he can’t be counted as ”Ex” yet.

  9. 19Yzerman says:

Thats cool. I knew It would be tuff. If anyone thought it was going to be easy I have words of wisdom for them.

There has never yet been a man in our history who led a life of ease whose name is worth remembering.

  10. ranger_fan says:

Nothing wrong with John Blue, besides his ability, and stats. All I remember is Don Cherry loved him because of the last name.

  11. Lint07 says:

    – – – Attention! – – –

An internet friend of mine just won a 1 year subscription to ”The Sporting News” but can’t claim it because he lives in Canada.

So he asked me to find someone who’d be interested.

The first US resident to PM me his full name along with his US postal adress will receive it.

    Thank you.

  12. brewstar03 says:

    Lint07-

If the draft is ever re-instated, you should set up a quiz to see who can guess the most correct picks in the first round. That would be fun to try and see how many people comes with the most correct guesses. Or include the correct number of trades that will go happen, and maybe even who trades what pick, etc.

  13. Rico420 says:

I remember in 1994 I picked John Blue in the 4th round of a Hockey Pool draft!

Let me tell you the Blue didn’t win me the pool.

  14. Lint07 says:

    Awarded to brewstar03!

  15. Lint07 says:

    check your PM’s

  16. Rico420 says:

    I can’t believe I said Stevens..for some reason I thought he was a 4th overall..turns out he was a top 5!

Of course I got the Goalie question..two of them are Habs!

  17. brewstar03 says:

Wahoo! First time I have ever won anything! Thanks!

  18. hockeyhead says:

that’s alright nords…i would of too….it is kind of cool to come in last.

john blue will be backup to mike moffat. blaine lacher in the system. we would of took robbie tallas but that pain killer he took messed him up.

ill take brent ashton but not hughes. jeff lazaro and tim sweeney.

  19. hockeyhead says:

yea, that sucked., i got two of em…who the hell is michaud?/

do you know the fourth string bruins goalie?

  20. ranger_fan says:

    Hannu Toivenen or something?

  21. hockeyhead says:

hannu is going to be backup.

my point is that it was a tough question because oliver michaud had how many appearances???

  22. PayUpSucka says:

true that, I stand corrected, thanks Marco!!

  23. ranger_fan says:

    one that i know of

  24. hockeyhead says:

did you get that question right?

i got weekes and jose but had no clue of a guy that is still using a jersey number from training camp.

with that said i don’t know how a starter like those two guys would keep such stupid hockey numbers.

  25. Lint07 says:

1 period against the Edmonton Oilers.

That was a trick question but I was surprised to see how many people got it right, though.

  26. ranger_fan says:

Yes I did. I knew it was Michaud or Fichaud, because montreal had both in the early 2000-2001.
